Can someone explain the relevance of the adoptive parents of twins Oliver and Ginger? The dad was an FBI agent (??) and his wife kills herself after the evil twins throw their brother overboard on a cruise ship. Why was the dad made an FBI agent? - as he seemed to have nothing to do with the larger story. And how did the twins' personalities get so deformed? There must've been a lot of stuff going on at that commune for them to turn out that way.

They were the 2 kids (the ones playing in the mud) when dad went in and killed the mom---he suffocated her and then shot the other 2 people there. Think she was in a cult (the mom) and clearly cracked out. It makes sense that he was FBI because he went in and killed so many people with such precision. Plus, then Ginger wants to be just like her dad.
