Great. Glad you found your book, Shelley. I moved your thread to a Solved folder by clicking the small "edit" link after the topic header/title. This only works on the full desktop website, not the mobile app or mobile website.

I read a book in the early 90's, about a blonde haired girl who went with her boyfriend on his motorcycle ride on a really windy road and the guy was going way too fast and the boyfriend was careless and got in an accident. The girl becomes paralyzed and has to live the rest of her life in a wheelchair. It talks about her whole experience going through life in a wheelchair. She is a teenager. The book has a blue cover, and the girl has blonde hair. It is not illustrated in a cartoon fashion, but isn't totally realistic either. The girl is sitting in the wheel chair, with trees or a house in the background. I think she is sitting at an angle in the picture.
I also remember one specific scene where she talked about how hard it is to go to the bathroom, she may have even had a colostomy bag.
It's possible that it was Wheels for Walking, but I'm not sure because that description said something about a skip trip and car accident, but this specifically was a motorcycle accident. The covers to Wheels for Walking are also not what I remember.
I'm looking for the correct title and cover. Once I see the cover of it, I'll know it for sure. I remember the cover better than the plot.
