Just finished Helen's Curse on Kindle. This is not the usual genre I read, but it was free. This is a paranormal romance about relationships that gone bad. Helen is dead, and the story goes back in her words about being brought up in a coven of exceptionally beautiful witches. She acts the part of the perfect Catholic girl who becomes the lead guitar and singer of a folk/rock band. Going over the line, her grandparents, whom she lives with, put the cabosh on it and send her off to Spain on a school trip. Dante has seen the beautiful woman in a dream, and will search until he comes of age for her. If he doesn't marry her, he has to kill her. Serafino, Dante's brother as met this beautiful woman in real life and has fallen for her. The brothers are wizards who have been brought up by a sadistic, tyrant of a father. Helen is marked and has some evil out to destroy her. Unfortunately, I did not know this was book 1 of 2. So I will read the second to find out the ending. It was a bit long, and some times confusing for me. I don't read many paranomal stories with witches, warlocks and wizards, so some of the culture was strang to me. Very interesting story. 2 stars

Finished Tigana, which was amazing. Now I'm reading The Midnight Queen for a real life book club. Not what I'd usually pick up, but I'm liking it so far.
Still slowly working on The Goldfinch, and knocking out a few stories here and there on Nightmare At 20,000 Feet: Horror Stories. Can't motivate myself to open The Magician's Land, so rather than skip reading altogether, I started Artful last night. Oh yes, just what a I need. Another active book.
But I'm liking it so far.
Also started Acceptance to finish up the Southern Reach trilogy. The first book was awesome but the second was a bit of a drag for me. This one is quite good again, at least the first few chapters.
Just finished City of Stairs, and it was awesome! I loved the setting-a broken holy city with gods believed dead--and the mystery behind it! I wrote a review, which I can link people to (if people are interested and it's allowed in the forum?)I am currently reading Grail, the third book in Elizabeth Bear's Jacob's Ladder series.
FYI - Audible has two sales going on right now: Thrills and Chills Sale: http://www.audible.com/mt/Thrills-and...
