I'd never seen Nightshade before seeing it on the reading list for this group - so its a bit of a find. I love that its werewolves and witches and the explanation of how everything works is perfect - e.g. how they shift and the back story of the Guardians. I did feel that there were a lot of characters introduced in the first 30% of the book (I'm reading on Kindle) but that seems to be settling down now.
What's everyone's thoughts on Calla?
I agree, there were quite a few characters to keep track of at the start and I got a bit confused between the Nightshades and the Banes.I found Calla to be okay...definitely not my favourite ever heroine but also not the most annoying MC i've ever come across
So far I'm not really enjoying the book. I'm not sure why. I guess I'm not in the mood for werewolves in high school. I don't know if I'll continue reading. I may just return the book when it's due at the library.
I think that it's really cheesy. But that's not always a bad thing. It's also confusing and doesn't have any explanations. But I am enjoying it nevertheless.
I really liked it at first, but am now halfway through and thinking I might give up. I'll probably finish it because I need it for two challenges. The love triangle is annoying and I really don't like Ren - or Shay much. I'd like there to be more about the other characters (Ansel is my favourite) and less of the repetitive make out scenes.

Thank you for your comments. You've helped me decide not to bother continuing with the book. I'm reading two other books that really have my attention so I'll focus on those.
I decided not to give up and I think the second half is better - there's more world building, action and development of the other characters. So I'm now glad I've carried on with it after all! I guess it was just that section in the middle that irked. So it might still be worth a try Grace, I don't know...
Bah! For some reason I haven't been getting these notifications! I was thinking 'wow the discussion's been a bit quiet!' LolHmm the wort heroine I've come across I think is the girl from Hush Hush - I'm blanking on her name but my God she was annoying!
I also agree that it's a bit cheesy...I was actually quite disappointed because I'd read so many good reviews but it just didn't grab me like I thought it would!

This book is putting me in a really bad mood. After reading 2 books a week for over 2 months, this book has put me in a reading slump. I am really annoyed as I feel as though I have lost my love for reading. I will put it on hiatus and read a better book to get me through this slump, but the book's really put me in a bad mood.
Oh wow @Kush! I am kind of glad now I took the month of from the bookclub pick. I read every month usually and this month I just wanted to take a reading break... which I haven't done in a few years actually. So this might've been the perfect month for a break. Next month.. Poison Study... I loved that book!!
Angie, I really hated it. However, I seem to be in the minority. It just felt so cheap and stereotypically teenage-girly. The romance was awkward and I couldn't care less about the story. However, I did love the character of Ansel, but that's as far as I got. I don't think I am going to finish it and it is my first DNF for a couple years now....
