Secondhand Hoarded book ChallengeHave hundreds of books that fall into this category. Will set initial goal at 30.
Do we have to say how we acquired the book and its cost?

Nunu, please read post 1 everything is eplained in there.
Looks like I misunderstood this challenge to be one set for 2020. Will it be a carry over for the upcoming new year? Thanks Chantal
I love this idea and too bad I discovered this challenge only now. Still since I can't read my Kindle ebooks for quite a while now I'm switching to my paper books and most of these are second hand :-) so still perfect timing.Looks like I'll only manage one or two of my 2nd hand books that I paid for - all the other were free (local book shelves):
Die Akte=The Pelican Brief my local library for 0,50€
Let It Snow: Three Holiday Romances Oxfam Frankfurt/Main for 3€

Yes, I want to continue but it will be a quarterly challenge then. So everybody has a change to win a time.

Cool, but you are always welcome to join now if you want.
Book #4 for this challenge:A Casual Vacancy by J.K. Rowling
I actually got this one for free from the little library in the building I live in where residents can leave and take books. Since I did get it second hand, I'm including it in this challenge. :)
I am reading a paperback that I have had for 21 years, it is at least the third time reading it. It was purchased new in 1988 though. Can I count it or no?

That is okay, as long as it was second hand.

Chantal wrote: "Did you buy it new or did you get it second hand or bought it second hand?"... I bought it new.
But after 31 years doesn't it just become secondhand through some transitive property?
sigh.

I thought about it, but I am going to deny it for this challenge. If you bought it second hand or you got it second hand, you can count it. I do see your point so don't get me wrong.

For anybody who would like to join the first new secondhand book challenge in 2020. It will be for the first quarter of 2020https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
I have failed miserably for this last quarter 2019! I only read the one one used book from my hoard. All the rest were audiobooks, library books or (gasp) books I’d bought new! I will join for next quarter though. Haha!

Chantal, will this count? I have a certain book bought as a second hand paperback, but I am reading the same book in hardcover from the library, because it felt like a hardcover kind of book. I intend to get rid of the paperback afterwards. Point?
ugh, meant for the current challenge but maybe I'll take your answer here instead of retyping it elsewhere.
