Spot: 26
Book: Protect the Prince
Pages: 448
Qualification: #2 in Crown of Shards series

I have already picked the alternate tasks in the first week so I am out for that one.
I was surprised that there was a bonus for reading a book with over 500 pages....I'm happy I was able to contribute to that one.

Review: Another fantastic installment from Jennifer Estep I am absolutely in awe of Everleigh Winterburn the heroine. She is an amazing character, a queen but very much human, caring and wonderful. Her nonexistent love story is gut wrenching, however, I’m super happy that they are together. I loved this book. What a fabulous story and the happy ending!!! I can’t wait for the next book!!

Qualification: Harris Brother, Book 2
Read: 9/17
Rating & Review: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Belle and Tanner were such a push and pull enemies and lovers. It was angsty and uncomfortable when they were beefing, but cute and endearing when they were connecting. I enjoyed the background story to each character, one had a cold and distant family and the other came from a close knit family.
There was good development and growth for both Belle and Tanner. I love how the prior couple continued to be an integral part of their story. This is sports romance done well.

Book: The Dog Who Knew Too Much
Author: Carol Lea Benjamin
Date Read: 9/28/2019
Qualification: The Rachel Alexander & Dash Mysteries #2
Rating: 3.5 stars
Review: This was a decent mystery - I didn't know who did it because really it was easy to suspect everyone. I was disappointed there wasn't more "dog" in the book - I kind of expected that, but I did like that Dash was a pretty normal part of Rachel's life (although leaving him home while she wanders streets where a murder has taken place...hmm...thats one of my "main character deserves to die" irritations.) I will try more in the series - especially since I own them all - got a good deal on the series last December.

Qualification: GDB Security, Book 1
Read: 9/20
Rating & Review: 3.5 Stars.
I listened to the audiobook and I think I would have enjoyed this one more if I read the book because the narrator Blake Richard. was monotoned and the listening experience was drab,
Clearly this series is a spin-off as Gio is a third of GDB, a security firm partner with DaVonte and Briggs.
When Gio went to his goddaughter's 5th birthday party, he learned that a wealthy client wanted security detail for his family on a vacation to Hawaii. Gio took the assignment and he posed as a married couple with their employee Simone. During the assignment, sparks fly between Gio and Simone, which was inconvenient due to their working relationship and Gio's past as a mob enforcer.
But the heart wants what it wants and Gio and Simone can't stay away from each other that long. They have to learn how to navigate new territory and decide if what they have is worth risking it all for.
The story was good and entertaining. It has diverse characters and yet the familal bond is tight. I will enjoy reading book 2.

Review: This is such a fun book. I didn't even know this genre until I randomly bought the first book and now I am hooked. Aleron Kong is a pretty good author. Richter the hero is funny, silly, geeky and amazing all!! His reactions to certain details has had me laughing out loud.
Overall a super fun and easy series to read. Definitely a feel good book. Who knew LitPg would be so engaging and fun.

Siren's Song by Ella Summers (Legion of Angels #3)
272 pages
Date Read: 9/19
Rating: ★★★½
I enjoy this series overall, but Leda was annoying to me at times in this installment. She has leveled up and has the Siren's Song power which allows her to compel other people. Her relationship with Nero is moving slowly but Nero does show a somewhat softer side towards her though. The premise of the Legion of Angels and the various levels are interesting. There is plenty of action and I am curious to see how the surprise at the end factors in going forward in the series.

Review: I liked this book more than book #2 in the series, which I read first. I expected to see more of dogs in that one, and missed that I didn't. This had lots of dogs - Dash, and a champion Basinji. We got to see parts of the Westminster Dog Show too. I thought the mystery was pretty good - it made sense anyway. Characters were all ok, but I didn't really love any of them. But yes - better than book #2 - and I'm hoping #3 will be even better.

I enjoyed this installment and the dog-lover in me loves this series and the Kilcannon family for what they do to help animals. The way Andi treated Liam annoyed me at first but I grew to love her character by the end. Christian was a precious little boy and I liked how Jag helped pull him out of his shell. The ending was perfect and I am very glad to see Liam get his HEA. Looking forward to finding out more about Molly's secret from the past in the next book.

The writing in this series is so different and refreshing. The story is well developed. I just can’t believe that i only discovered the Author and the Heartstriker series last year.
This sequel was about growth and development. Opal grew and matured as a magic caster (possible mage/priestess); her relationship with her father grew as she finally started to understand him; her relationship with Nick grew as she finally saw just how much he cares for her and she cares for him.
I love Opal’s stubborn streak, her tenacity and grit and all her insecurities. Her fears are what dominates her actions. I can’t wait for Opal to finally start to accept that she’s worthy of love and people who genuinely want to help her. She will be stronger when she accept their love and she can concentrate on figuring out how to control her magic.
I strongly insist that you begin with the HeartStriker series first. You need to know about the DFZ, the peacemaker and his siblings to truly appreciate them in this story.

Review: A really good addition to the series. I really enjoy the series. Darian and Keisha are so sweet together. That girl is one amazing healer and felt proud reading about them both. Shandi was not so bad as Darian and I thought. It was good to see her prove her mettle as a newly minted Herald and she was useful to her sister.

Review: This was a good page-turner and I enjoyed it. However, it has a lot of continuing story from book 1 in the series, and I felt like although we learn things, absolutely nothing resolved this book. If any mystery had been solved, I would have given a higher rating, but it left me with more questions than answers. I'll probably round up with my Goodreads review though, as the book was engrossing.

Enjoy your vacation, Ezi!!

I liked the story but i wasn’t enthralled with this story. Ilya Dragonovich and Emma Jane Preston had skirted around their attraction for different reasons. Ilya was a dangerous man and the heir to the Dragonovich family that wielded mafia power in Romania and Emma Jane was just getting out of a marriage.
When someone threatened EJ’s life, Ilya knew it was time to claim her as his own and under his protection. But the person after her was a mystery, and that was not going to fly with the Dragon heir.
I really liked Emma Jane’s independence, loyalty and inner strength. She clearly loved Ilya but she also had a clear sense of what’s right, and she also stood up for herself against her protective family. The mystery stalker wasn’t really much of a mystery although the motive was a surprise. I enjoyed their reliance on each other for comfort and love. I also see that Emma Jane was strong enough for a boss like Ilya.
The almost mythical characteristics of the dragon tattoo gave the story a supernatural feel that gave the stories Romanian family some mystique.
I had hoped for more information on EJ’s culpability with her accident as well as his mother’s motive. Maybe in the next books, we can get a resolution on those issues.

Amelia is back in Charleston and haunted by the ghosts of Devlin's dead wife and daughter while trying to solve a murder for another ghost so he can move on. I enjoyed her adventures and was hoping she and Devlin would reunite. A new character, Darius, was introduced over the course of her investigation and I found him interesting. The ending felt rushed but I plan to continue with the series and look forward to the next book.

A Hell of a Dog by Carol Lea Benjamin
304 pages
Date Read: 9/27/2019
How it fits: #3 in Rachel Alexander and Dash series
Rating: 4 stars
Review: This was my favorite yet - probably because it had more dogs :) Rachel and Dash are hired to be undercover peacekeepers at a dog training convention. None of the trainers get along - they all have strongly different opinions. And, unsurprisingly, people start dying.
This book really showed some of the things dogs can do, and I liked reading about the different training opinions and especially about the results. The mystery wasn't bad, and I was entertained. One thing that maybe could have been done better is almost all of the dogs had human names - Beth, Jeff, etc., so it made it difficult sometimes to keep track of all the characters.

Review: This is the first time I’m reading this series and absolutely love it. Anne is so dramatic but I love her silly antics even as she embraces womanhood. Anne not only broke Gilbert’s heart but mine as well when she refused him. I can’t wait to read more about Anne and Gilbert and their romance.

This story arc for Clay and Julia seems drawn out to me. I liked their characters though and was glad that she fessed up to him what was going on. Of course, he feels the need to save her from her predicament which creates issues between them. It looks like there is one more book to their story and I will probably listen to it at some point since it is available in Audible Escape.
