A couple of things to keep in mind:
✸ Communication is key. Please make sure to check in regularly with your team.
✸ Let your team know if it looks like you won't get your review posted by Thursday, 11:59pm. You do have all of Friday to submit your review, but it can be intensely frustrating for your captain if they don't know when or if they can expect your review before the deadline.
✸ If you know beforehand that you won't be able to read and review a book during a certain week, you can request a pre-arranged absence from me, either by posting the request in the discussion thread or by sending me a pm. The request has to be submitted before the team rolls for the week in question, can only be approved by me as the mod in charge of running the game, and has to state a reason for the absence. (Reasons for pre-arranged absences can include e.g. going on vacation or work trips, planned hospital stays, exam period, etc.)
✸ If you do not have a pre-arranged absence and won't be able to finish your book in time for an unforeseen reason, please let your team know as soon as possible. If the team has earned the free pass, it can be used to cover the missing review. Without a free pass, the team has to sit out the next roll.
✸ We all know that real life gets in the way sometimes, be it through family emergencies, work emergencies, natural disasters, technical problems making it impossible to get online, or in other ways. That being said, please do keep in mind that this is a team challenge and your team relies on you to do your part unless an emergency occurs.
✸ If you find that the pressure of keeping up with the pace of the game gets too much for you or you wish to stop playing for any other reason, you can drop out of the challenge at any time. In that case, please let your team captain and/or me know that you wish to drop out rather than just disappearing without a word so your team won't be penalized when you fail to turn in your review. Thank you!
Captain's Handbook
✸ The team's captain is its chief organizer. This includes rolling the dice, posting the team's new spot to the team thread and the Post Your Spot thread, collecting links to team members' review posts in a single post to be linked in the Post Your Spot thread, doublechecking that books and review posts comply with requirements, reminding team members to post their reviews in time if necessary, etc.
✸ The captain may delegate some tasks, such as rolling and posting the new spot to the team thread, to another team member if they so choose. (Either a designated roller who fulfills this role every week, or whichever team member is online first once rolling is possible.) Collecting reviews into a single post and posting to the Post Your Spot thread should always be handled by the captain.
✸ Instead of having everything handled by a single team captain, teams can also choose two co-captains to handle the workload.
✸ Selection posts are not strictly required by the game's rules and I won't be checking for them. It's up to the team captain to decide whether they want them.
✸ If the team captain requests a pre-arranged absence, it's their responsibility to arrange for another team member to step in as temporary captain.
✸ The team captain is my primary point of contact for the team and should allow receiving private messages.

I like Ten Serial Bookworms! I l am the worst with names, so I'm not even going to make an attempt. :)
Hello! I think this is where I'm supposed to be but I'm double checking in the sign up threads. How is everyone doing today?
Ten Serial Bookworms is fine with me. When I saw it my mind immediately went to A*TEN*SHUN Serial Bookworms. Too many military references recently.

I like that too! :)
Game starts tomorrow so we need to make some decisions. Who is going to captain this crew and what will our name be? Looks like it might be Ten Serial Bookworms or possibly A*TEN*SHUN Serial Bookworms, but we need to make some decisions soon so we can roll tomorrow and get started.
I am good with A*TEN*SHUN Serial bookworms. I would rather not be captain if possible. Eager to get started though
I can Captain -- or Co-Captain -- if someone can help me out with checking us in this Thursday and the roll next Friday -- I'll be on a quick weekend cruise leaving Friday am and my traveling companions and I have agreed it will be internet free.
I’ve only done this challenge once before. I’m happy to help in any way but prefer to not be the sole captain.
I would rather not captain as I am captain in multiple other challenges right now. But if no one else can help Stacey out, I can be co-captain to post that one week. Then she can take over afterwards. But if someone else can do it, that works for me too.
I’m new to this so no captaining for me this time, if that’s ok! And I’m good with the names y’all suggested!
And we are off! Week 1: Roll 10 Spot 10

I've messaged Denise to have her change our name officially. I would appreciate if everyone could do a selection post. It will help me keep our weekly post current, then I don't have to do all the work at the end. Thanks!
Is anyone thinking of working for the extra points?

Review: This is the first book in the Gryphon Riders Trilogy. Eva was raised by the village blacksmith. One day, the king's soldiers and gryphon riders are searching for a thief who stole a special gryphon's egg. The thief turns up at Eva's place and the egg hatches for Eva. Due to this, Eva is forced to go to the Gyr and learn to be a Gryphon Rider. Things are tougher than hoped and she discovers a secret enemy to the kingdom and with the help of her friends must confront the enemy. I enjoyed this book. It is a very classic fantasy novel (with the orphan child being special and saving the kingdom) but the gryphons were a nice touch. I will be continuing this series.

Review:
Empty shops are the death knell for small businesses.
Jill Gardner left her law practice and ex-husband behind when she moved to South Cove, California to open a bookstore/coffee shop café. Her first friend in town is Miss Emily, a elderly outspoken woman who is constantly at odds with the mayor and council because of the disrepair of her home. Threatening letters have her and Jill concerned. Jill is dismayed to find Miss Emily dead in her bed and suspects something other than natural causes.
There were several mysteries going on during this book. They all pretty much wound back around to the central mystery of who killed Miss Emily, but it was interesting to see how everything fit.
I would have liked to know a bit more about South Cove and the shops that Jill shared the street with. It seemed that she was constantly going to the next town to do things. I get that it is a small town and you may need to go elsewhere for certain things but surely there is a hardware store and some type of general store.
The budding relationship between Jill and Detective Greg King was filled with angst simply because Jill would not ask him one simple question.
Jill asks for help from her Aunt Jackie to run the business while she is trying to save Miss Emily's house. Then she gets ticked off when her aunt brings in business and has good ideas for keeping the small shop open and making money.
The characters were well written and I could visualize them in my mind. The storyline was good and I enjoyed a bit of the history that was tossed in.
Overall, this is a good solid read that kept me entertained for the evening. I look forward to reading the next book to see how Jill and Greg are doing.

This. Book. From the description I was expecting a suburban mom book club book. Nothing wrong with those, but I was expecting something fluffy. This was not fluffy. This book is beautifully written and is an intriguing reminder to slow down, be present, and enjoy the small moments in life. I cried. This book is so much more than expected.

Review: I have become intrigued with this series recently having read the first book in the shadow series and bishop/special crime unit series and this book was just as enthralling. I was involved with the characters from the beginning and intrigued to see how the mystery would unfold. I love the combination of paranormal and crime in these stories. I didn't feel the chemistry as much between the two Cs in this books but i did like the characters nonetheless and i liked the pace and action of the story. Definitely a series I am going to keep on reading.

Review: I jumped into this series at #10 because I needed a read cover for another challenge..lol
I can't say that I enjoyed it as much as I typically do with cozy mysteries. Usually I find cozies a fun light easy read, this one just seemed heavier. The mystery of the death almost seemed like the back story and the family drama more important. China races back home at the request of her mother with a cryptic reason as to why she is being requested. When she gets home things are completely not what she is was anticipating and family secrets are unearthed.
