Sure I can see your assessment of Antonio as a "typical tragic hero", based on his choices and lifestyle.
But isn’t that also a typical tragic hero of Romantic writing as well, which then can have a HEA?
(view spoiler)[Antonio was indeed aware of the consequences of his decision yet acting out his vengeance twice was an emotional decision. Intellectually he had been able to resist the mob all his life until tragedy brought him need for vengeance, So yes he is a good person in the core.
I’d say that until Theresa his life albeit a lonely existence had afforded him power and success. So meeting he rocked his world where none of it matter and all of it suddenly mattered. In other words a blessing and a curse; she allowed him to feel, she is pure, she is life she is future, yet the consequences of his lifestyle makes that impossible therein the curse. Which in HEA writing somehow will be overcome. If the quote CD gave about “through” then maybe that is their way.
I don’t know too much about the 4 act writing, but I’d say we are entering the 3rd ACT?!

So although I knew the whole time we were up against the timeline for Sing, that they were both in that hospital... It still kept me at the edge of my seat as to what was going to happen. From the moment Paulie is shot, until the very end I could not reason with myself that something horrible didn't happen to them by the time we got to the end... that they were both still alive and together in Sing.

Rings and all that jazz (view spoiler)[ I can't recall, but part of me remembers T bringing up D's ring in Ruin. Like she may have had it with her... that would explain why she had it at the hospital. Maybe since they couldn't bring too much cash, she brought the ring for its value while on the run.

If correct, in Sing... it was on her finger. Not her purse. Not sure I can see A allowing her to use D's ring just because he doesn't have one for her. But that could be an easily solution to this damn ring issue. (hide spoiler)]

I think I am going to have to re-read SOS between every other CDR book. I need a damn chart. Ready to document every mention of these damn Drazen ladies during SOS and map that shit out.

Well yes 1/3 of the heroes we read are flawed and broken so the term tragic is just a way to describe them. Nevertheless they subscribe to that same belief of noble /cursed. But in romantic writing they are just able to turn it around.
And............ that is why I am hanging out at this section of GR vs. the tragedy section, hehe.

Well Greek drama is the foundation for writing; plays, tv movies and on and on. It deserves proper credit and I think it does get it for most parts.

I just think some words are practical to use when they are derived form Greek or Latin langage as they sound very similar is sooooooo many languages . Tragedy is one of those words. (as opposed to flawed, broken, despondendt….)

Typo: I meant to say 2/3 of the heroes we read are broken / flawed, LOL! Hell, maybe more. I try not to read those all the time, but they do make for excellent heroes.
