Elise (elise013) | 3 comments I read the beginning of this book at a public library around 2015

It's an adult fiction book with series of stories in chapter form about a girl and her family. All of the family members are strange/monstrous in some way and all live in a house together. A sister or cousin has dreams where she "floats" and can see what is happening far away, similar to astral projection. The book is somewhat gothic in style. There is one chapter with a visiting uncle who might be a vampire?

Thanks in advance for any help

SamSpayedPI | 2305 comments It sounds like Ray Bradbury's supernatural Elliott Family. Cecy is the sister who "floats" and inhabits the spirits of other people (and animals, and raindrops, and the wind, etc.) while she sleeps. Uncle Einar has wings. The entire family has a reunion in the story The Homecoming.

The book From the Dust Returned is a fix-up novel about the Elliotts, but some stories about them can be found in other Ray Bradbury collections (such as Dark Carnival or The October Country).

Elise, which of Ray Bradbury's book is yours or the closest to it?

Elise (elise013) | 3 comments It was a now out-of-print copy of From the Dust Returned, on googling I recognise the cover.
