Just checked out the reviews for this, and sounds really fascinating!
Will attempt to fit this in!
Will attempt to fit this in!
I'm currentlx waiting for my copy to arrive. Will start this as soon as I get it :D This month is a bit of a Patrick Ness month for me :)
I just read this book this afternoon. I had never heard of it, but I am SO glad it was selected for the group read! It really tugs at the heart strings.
I just finished listening to the audiobook narrated by Jason Isaacs: fantastic narration, and terrific story. I loved it.
I'm halfway through and I love it so far. The illustrations are gorgeous! I'm really glad I bought a physical copy of it! I hope to finish it tonight :D
I'm saving my library copy for the end of the month and will be reading it as part of the Halloween Readathon. Like so many books, I'm itching to read them all at the same time! Trying my best to not skip ahead but it's really difficult not to.
Finished it yesterday and the end got me all teary-eyed. So beautifully written with a great message behind the story of the monster visiting at 12:07 to tell stories that don't make much sense to Connor. So glad this got selected as the group read for this month!Patrick Ness slowly starts to be one of my favorite authors with A Monster Calls being a fabulous work of art and The Knife of Never Letting Go being a masterpiece so far, too. :)
Loved the story, but the illustrations put this book over the top for me. I highly recommend reading this the old fashioned way if you have the opportunity. Thankful to all who recommended/voted for this one, as I'd not heard of it before!!
I have to get A Monster Calls back to the library, so I started it this morning. Very different from what I thought, but what a wonderful surprise! I love it, well written, great illustrations that add quality to the story, and a book that will get recommended highly to my children.I actually went out and bought this book this afternoon, that's how well I'm loving it! And I will be reading more of Patrick Ness.
Everyone, this is the YA book to read! :)
Well now I can say I've finished A Monster Calls! This was a good book and yes, I shed a tear or two. Like Cheryl, I've not heard of this author, but so glad this book was nominated!
I've just read this, this evening and attempted a review in between the tears in my eyes! What an amazingly honest and beautifully written book. An unforgettable read.
I've also just finished this terrific book, the illustrations are amazing and make the atmosphere, has anyone read Patrick Ness' other books?
I've read The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness and await the other books of the Chaos Walking Trilogy so I can finish it. It's writing is very special (in my opinion), but I loved it as much as I loved A Monster Calls.
Late to the party again! Just picked this up from my library. I actually had no intention of reading it, but your comments have been so intriguing that now I must!
So good! Nothing unexpected for the adult reader, I think. But powerfully written. A beautiful, important book. Not at all what I was expecting when I first heard about it.
