Did Black Jack Robinson truly love Estelle or just what respectability she may have brought him? Was she just looking for a way out of her home and a father for her baby or was she possibly in love with him?

Robin (robinmy) | 1214 comments I think there was a possibility that they both loved each other, despite there actual reasons for going into the relationship. Black Jack was certainly using her to get respectability (though it wouldn't have worked). Estelle wanted to get away from her father. She may or may not have known that she was pregnant. She may have fallen for Black Jack Robinson in spite of her plans.

I felt pretty certain Black Jack fell in love with Estelle, despite his original motives. I’m not sure about her because we don’t get her point of view and I imagined she was desperate to get out of that house!

Robin (robinmy) | 1214 comments It is hard to know what Estelle thought about Black Jack without getting in her head.

I agree, Robin. We can only speculate.
