annaesj ((Can Riva come and help them or something? She doesn't have to ally with them or anything, I just want to give her something to do.))

message 55: by annaesj (new)

annaesj Riva was just absently turning her head, calculating the minutes until she would die, when she saw the insects, and the people from the shop running away from the. Great big wasps. Tracker jackers. These thoughts had barely connected when Riva discovered that she was on her feet, running towards them. Her hair was flying away from her face as she sprinted in the direction of the shop, her head whipping around. "There!" she yelled towards the three, pointing towards a baby-blue building which looked like a house. If they were quick, they could get inside it before the wasps did...

AυвяєєƤαιgє | 721 comments Sage sprinted blindly with her 3 stings and her brain hallucinating. She saw her father yelling at her for getting stung and then her only friend, Rory, shouting at her to follow her friends. She closes her eyes, shutting them out when she knows that they are only trying to help her. She blinks back tears and then races to the blue building, never looking back.

Mihr continued climbing up the skyscraper. She didn't dare to look down but she noticed how windy it was becoming. And the fact that it was a bit colder as she climbed higher She suddenly found herself wising she had chosen to wear something better than just a tanktop and capris. She kept on climbing, though. And she guessed at least 2 hours must have passed. Suddenly, as a strong gust of wind comes straight at her. No, make that 4 gusts of wind. One from north, east, west, and south. With a gasp she lost her footing, just minutes away from the Cornucopia. She felt herself falling suddenly and grabbing around madly for a ridge or dent to hold on to. There She felt a dent in between two of her hands and she let out a deep sigh, eyes wide. She had lost about a half hour's worth of climbing because of the wind.

•••••••••••••••••••••

Lia just made it off of the pedestal and looked around, taken in by awe. She had seen some of these shops and has even also seen some of the skyscrapers and fountains. She looked around wildly for the Cornucopia and saw that it wasn't on groud level. It was up high on the skyscrapers. She truly had no idea what to do. But, she ran for a nearby store and she thought she might have seen a other girl running for it as well, but she wasn't positive.

message 67: by Mel (new)

Mel (melsheard) Ash looked around the Arena, frantically deciding what to do. It's a mess. I'm a mess. I hate this. The other tribute's outfits didn't seem so sensible, but he couldn't really bother about that one right now. Where was the Cornucopia? The Arena was set out like the Capitol, so it was bound to be somewhere stupid. The Gamemakers were rotten this year, but they had given him a ten, so maybe they had some sense in them. He didn't know. A lot of people had taken off running but others didn't look so sure. He hadn't made any allies, really, so who was he supposed to team up with? I'll just have to go solo.

Ash set off for the tallest building, the one that held the Cornucopia, but he didn't know that. He was thankful for being covered up on his legs because he found it quite cold. When he reached the edge, he took a breath and looked around, quickly. There were a few shops. I'll have to look at them later. He pushed the door open and found steps. Ash tentatively took a step, not sure whether it would explode under his foot. No, all okay. For now. He made his way up the winding staircase, realizing that there was a huge drop down.

What if other people have weapons? He shook away the thought, No, they won't, I would have got one, too. Ash stopped and heard a voice going up the stairs. He ran a little quicker, hearing some words. It sounded like Linadel. Should I call out to her? He decided not to and stopped, catching his breath again. Ash wiped away the sweat forming on his palms against the legs of his outfit. It was quite a good choice. (view spoiler)

After a few more minutes he was only half way up. He hated this Arena, it was decided. So far, no one had bothered him. The singing was still going, and Ash decided to call out. "HEY!" He yelled, stopping to look up, then look down, which was a bad idea. He suddenly felt sick, yet he didn't know why.

message 68: by [deleted user] (new)

Mihr had still been climbing up the skyscraper, and she looked down once to see Ash entering the building. She wondered if it had been a good choice to climb instead of going in.. Yes. Yes it had been. So, with a deep breath, she moved along. Finally, she reached the spot she had almost died at because of the winds. This time as they came at her, she pressed herself against the hard building. She waited for even a slight break in the wind, and climbed up a few more ledges. But now, it was so windy, she knew the prospect of climbing any farther would be practically impossible. She looked at the window slightly to her right. Waiting for another wind break, she used her right hand to give it a hard punch. It barely even affected it. And she punched it hard again, more crack lines came.. one more.. she punched it a final time, and a small hole in the window gave way, glass falling to the streets below. And Mihr entered the building from that window, aware that the Cornucopia was now only a few stories away.

message 69: by [deleted user] (new)

Mihr heard a slight cuss somewhere below her and gave a slight smirk. She scampered up the steps until she reached the door that led to the Cornucopia. And she saw them. Her knives. She knew that they were meant for her. But heck, was iit ever windy up there. She could barely keep her footing. And she saw herself almost falling off of the building. She tried to run against the wind, but she was making very little progress. The attempts were simply futile. But she didn't give up. Those words simply weren't in her vocabulary. And Mihr had no idea how much time had passed, but she knew that after a long time, she made it to the weapon part of the Cornucopia. She reached for the belt of knives and while putting them around her waist, almost fell off of the building. She looked around madly, needing something else. Aha A backpack. She grabbed one as well, not bothering to see the contents. But now, the problem was, ho would she get down without getting blown off of the skyscraper?

Cia looked behind them, in front of them, to the right of them and to the left of them. Several times. She wasn't about to die on the first day, and she wasn't about to let Lolita, the closest thing she'd had to a friend in a long time, die either. Now she was sure that Lolita could see well enough to check for herself, but she couldn't tell. "How bad is it?" Cia asked her, needing to get a sense of just how bad Lolita's eyesight was. Hopefully it wasn't as bad as she made it sound, but if it was, then Cia could take precautions.

Lia, having no idea how to get to the skyscraper, looked around at the other tributes. She saw two of them she recognized from the interviews. Eight and Three. She might want to have them as allies. Heck, though, they didn't even know each other. She kept on running, and turned her head slightly to look at her surroundings as she did so. Oof! She'd ran right into one of the girls. She took a step back, suddenly shy. "Oh, uh, sorry."

•••••••

Mihr decided to wait for another tribute to get up here, and she realized she was wasting some valuable supplies. She felt like something was missing and opened up her backpack to see another knife and some more supplies. She then looked around at what she saw. There was the bow and arrows, but those were a slight weakness of hers. She might practice though.. that notion was laughable, but whatever. She slung the bow and arrows across her back, although still unsure whether she should keep them or not. She put them back, and instead grabbed a water purification tablet and water bottle and stuffed them in her backpack.

Cia narrowed her eyes at the girl. "And who are you exactly?" she asked, not necessarily hostile but definitely not kind. How had she not noticed her before? Perhaps she had rounded the corner just after Cia had checked it. She didn't know, but she didn't like the fact that she hadn't seen the girl... At least she was unarmed. Almost everyone was. Cia's eyes flicked to the Cornucopia. Well, almost everyone was unarmed at the moment, but not for long. Three people were going for the Cornucopia, Ash, Mihr and the girl who didn't seem particularly sane in the training center. It meant Cia needed to start figuring the arena out now. She had heard screams only moments before, but from what? She didn't know. Perhaps the same thing lay beyond the doors she leaned on. The girl... Maybe if they allied she would go inside for them. It was a cruel thought, but if she was willing to, then it really wasn't.

"Lia." She said, speaking up, and holding herself high. "Twelve. And who are you?" She said in the way you might talk to a person you thought you'd seen before. With a friendly air, but a not as friendly tone of voice.

"Cia. Three. Now I'd like to know if you're going to be staying with us or if you're going to keep moving," she replied matter-of-factly. This was simply going to be an exchange, nothing more. If Lia wanted to stay, she could. Cia and Loli could always leave her if they needed to.

message 76: by [deleted user] (new)

It was such an open invitation Lia couldn't believe her ears. Cia barely even knew her, except for her name and district and she was already offering that she could stay with her.. "I'll stay." She said firmly. "But, I must ask, who's she?" Lia asked, gesturing to the girl Cia was with.

annaesj Riva breathed a sigh of relief, leaning against the door. All of them were in, away from the tracker-jackers, though a few hallucinating, with bad stings. She stood helplessly, not knowing what to do. There had been tracker-jackers nests in Ten, but Riva couldn't remember ever having to actually deal with them. "I, um, think you should pull out the stingers," she instructed, hoping they would be able to. Medical problems had never bothered Riva, but she was reluctant about the gruesome looking stings.

"Lolita, District Eight. She's my ally," Cia said. She could tell that Lia was shocked she had opened up to her so quickly, but Cia had a plan. she knew what she was doing. It wasn't just an invitation to ally with them, mind you, it was a plan she was going to use to figure this arena out. For if she figured it out, she could win. Not that she needed to, but she could.

message 79: by [deleted user] (new)

"Okay, then. So where were you two heading? This Arena is so.." Lia couldn't even find the words to describe it. "It's just so.. disgusting." Truly, this year the GameMakers were truly being evil. They knew that the Capitol was most of the tributes' worst nightmare.

Cia but her lip, wondering what to tell the girl. "We were trying to figure out what was in here," she said, pointing to the doors she was leaning on. The doors were the doors of the general store, but the windows were tinted and she couldn't see inside. "And I agree. I honestly believed it was a joke at first."

message 81: by [deleted user] (new)

Maybe, to prove herself worthy of the alliance and to get a bit better on Cia's terms, Lia could volunteer to go in there. She wondered what was inside. The store had no name, so it didn't help at all. But she didn't want to die, so she said instead, "It's probably rigged or something, I mean it's the Capitol, they're the most deceiving out there."

message 82: by chloe ; a ghost, i can't stand unpunctual alien attacks. (new)

"Yeah. That's what I figured, but maybe that's what they want us to think. Maybe they want us to think it's rigged, and it actually isn't. But it probably is, so if we do end up going in there we'd have to be careful," Cia said with a nod. She turned her head towards the glass doors, straining her eyes to get a better look at the contents of the store. From the shapes and sillouhettes that she could make out, it seemed to be the kind of store that had lots and lots of stuff. If they could get inside... Well then maybe it was like a substitute for the Cornucopia.

message 83: by [deleted user] (new)

"Maybe.." Lia said, her voice trailing off. "Well, I don't know about you and Lolita, but I'm going in there." She said this a bit matter-of-factly. She was impatient, and didn't want to wait for others to do what she could do herself. But she didn't open the door with nearly as much confidence as she had spoken with. First, inhaling and then exhaling a deep breath, she placed her hand on the doorknob, turned it slightly and peeked her head inside. The shelves were lined with supplies.

((What type of store is it?))

Ash grunted and side-stepped the falling shards. They had come out from no-where.. was there a trap at the top? Another few words of the tribute's song came floating down the stairs, followed by a swear. He grinned and ran a hand through his hair. "Mate, shut the hell up, okay?" He hollered, beginning the climb again. Had the stairs been getting smaller? Ash looked down and realized they had. If he kept on stopping to talk, he'd make it to the top in about a day. He sighed, realizing that he couldn't do that. But he couldn't keep walking and talk. Maybe it would be better to take a rest every now and then.

He frowned and took another step. Unfortunately, he hadn't reacted fast enough and ended up falling off the ledge, gripping the stairs with the tips of his fingers. What was the girl's name? Lint.. Lisa.. Lin.. "Linadel!" Ash screamed, sweat forming on his forehead. He pushed himself up over the ledge, but got his foot stuck in one of the bars, keeping the stairs up. "Damn it," He whispered, swallowing and deciding that now would be a good time not to panic. "Linadel!" He screamed again, louder this time, not able to move his foot. A few moments passed and he dislodged it, but the stairs were creaking and he didn't have the body power to lift himself up. "Linadel.. please.."

Breezy (captainisking) The computerized voice counted down. "No way," Charlie gasped and her stomach dropped. All the hope she had acquired before the Games was slowly vanishing down the drain. No. She was better than that. She knew that she had as good a chance as anyone. Charlie looked at the arena in a new, vengeful, light. It was an exact replica of the Capitol. She seethed with anger at the Gamemakers who had put her, and all the other Tributes, the teenagers, here in this pit of death. 3,2,1......Charlie hopped off the pedestal with disgust and contempt. Not toward the other Tributes, she realized. They were in the same situation she was in. She felt it toward the Capitol, this Arena. She wanted to get revenge, and she was willing to help anyone else who had the same idea. Charlie shook herself out of her thoughts. There were people, but she assumed they were robotic, the way they blankly looked at their surroundings and walked without purpose. She saw three people go towards the skyscraper that loomed over them-wait, where was the Cornucopia? She then realized that it must be on top of the building, which loomed over her. She saw the other Tributes go into alleys, stores, and empty looking buildings. Charlie heard a scream coming from one of the stores, and figured that she should definitely not go in there. Not yet, at least. Wanting to gather her scrambled thoughts, she ran into one of the alleys and just about tumbled into a group of three girls, but skidded to a halt at the last second.

((General store, mutts))

"Suit yourself. If you can, grab me a tablet. And some wire, and then whatever else you can," Cia said with a shrug, masking the anxiousness in her voice. Her plan had worked, Lia had volunteered to go into the building, but Cia didn't want her to die. Though Lia's actions would help her to figure this joke of an arena out. At least, she hoped they would. The second tribute to come across them within the last few minutes nearly ran into them. "Who the hell are you?" she asked, hostility present in her voice. Lia seemed to have talent, whereas this girl did not. Plus, a group of three was already a big alliance. She didn't need it to grow any larger. But... A wicked grin spread across Cia's face. "Hey Lia! Wait up. Our new friend here is going in with you."

((Breezy, if you don't want Charlie to go in with Lia, seeing as she'll probably be injured or die, then just have her bolt.))

Charlie immediately heard the hostility in the girl's voice. Charlie could tell when she was not welcome, and when others believed she wasn't worth their time. "Hey Lia! Wait up. Our new friend here is going in with you." The redhead girl said, grinning. Charlie knew what she was trying to do. She had heard the screams and the Tributes stumbling/running away from the store, and knew that if she did what the girl was suggesting, she would most likely experience the same thing. She tilted her head, debating whether she wanted to run or not. She wasn't a coward, but she wasn't an idiot. "Hmm, you need two to go in? One should be enough, unless you have another purpose in mind. I don't think it's too safe to just pop in there."

((Uh, sure? Bring everyone to the same place XD))
"Exactly! That's why you would go with her," she said, her grin vanished and replaced by a plainer expression. Cia knew the girl was skeptical, just from her body language. She could also tell that the girl was debating whether or not to run. Run, she thought. You'll want to if I get that tablet. But that was the big catch, was the word if.

message 91: by Breezy (new)

Breezy (captainisking) The girl wanted her to run, Charlie knew. But she could tell the girl had a plan in mind. She recalled something she had heard the girl say as she ran up to them. Something about a....tablet...... and wires. She is district three, Charlie figured. It makes sense she wanted them. But what for? "Why risk two lives when you only need to risk one?" She asked the girl. She was curious of why the girl wanted to get rid of her so badly, maybe even want her dead. She hadn't done anything yet, and hadn't done anything to this girl. She understood it meant one less Tribute, but all Charlie wanted to do was get back at the Capitol, the people who had put them here for their entertainment. She had a feeling the girl might also.

"Why risk one life and lose it when you don't have to lose any by sending two people in?" she countered. Cia was growing quite tired of this banter, and was about ready to chase the girl away to get her point across. The girl wasn't welcome here, she seemed to realize that, but she still stayed with them. It annoyed Cia, who was not in the mood.

((That's fine.))

message 95: by Breezy (new)

Breezy (captainisking) She was annoying the girl, Charlie figured. The girl was probably about ready to throttle her, she thought, and she almost smiled at that. Charlie pondered the girl's answer. It was true, but she had to know that it could also result in losing two lives. No one could know for sure that the two people would both live in that sort of predicament. Death. All they were talking about was death. They were in an arena, for goodness' sake, and all they could talk about was death? There was going to be plenty of that later on, once people got a hold of the weapons. Speaking of that, Charlie wanted a spear. She was quite good at using them, but she knew everyone else underestimated her, and she figured the girl thought Charlie was a waste and had no talent. Which was fine with Charlie. She herself knew every Tribute here was capable of winning. "Good point. I still stand by my reasoning, but that does make sense." Go ahead, she thought to the girl. Underestimate me. Charlie wasn't going to do the same to her. She knew the girl was deadly smart, and that was one of the reasons why she wanted the tablet. She may be able to use it to annihilate everyone in this arena. Again, the question resurfaced to the front of her mind. Why did this girl resent Charlie so much?

Charlie then saw the other girl, who was extremely tall, looking at her with distaste. She wondered about the tension. She was curious about everyone's goals here in this arena. Some wanted to kill for fun. Some to just survive. Some wanted to win and get all the glory. But a few, like Charlie, actually wanted to change the Capitol's agenda. But all these people were getting in her way, wanting to kill her. What would that do? How would that help anyone?
((She's gonna wait until the other people come, then maybe she'll run or something, so don't kill her or chase her quite yet...))

((Cia doesn't want to kill her necessarily, she just wants her to leave them alone...))

Cia raised her eyebrows at Charlie's response, noticing that Lolita was awake. She smiled, for her ally wasn't paralyzed or dead or passed out. Not that she thought Lolita was, but you never know. The games were a cruel and twisted place, so you had to expect the unexpected. "Okay," Cia said in response to the new girl.

If we figure out some way to get in without getting too badly hurt, I'll go inside with the girl." Charlie says, and she means it. She wants to go inside, wants to know what's in there, she just...well, she doesn't want to die. "The name is Charlie, by the way. Six." "Well Charlie from Six. I could get you in and out of there with no harm if I had a tablet. But, seeing as the tablet I need is in there, and all the control panels are as well, I'm all ears for ideas" Cia said, not rudely or sarcastically, but rather genuinely. She actually was open to an idea, from Charlie or anyone else.
