I just read the ARC of this novella on Netgalley. I had already pre-ordered the book. It's really good, so if you like mermaids and tales of the deep, you should try it. (Hopefully you can preorder on library services too).

Question: did it have a warm, summer vibe or was it more cold, dreary feel?

It makes sense. It was neither if that makes sense. It is dark but also hopeful.
