Help! I believe the MC lives in our modern-day world, but he somehow inherits the ability to travel to this classic style fantasy world from his father? I think he can travel back and forth as he pleases. I believe his father or whoever it was, was powerful and rich in the fantasy world before he passed? The boy discovers he has an affinity for magic in this world and becomes a wizard/warlock? he gets a staff made for him with his inherited money and goes on adventures and quests with a group, fights giants, solves a riddle with a sphinx, earns gold. This world has "doorways" to travel to through its various parts. He achieves more as a magician; time passes differently in the worlds?? Middle grade level I think, something to do with being a hero/ apprentice / adventure

Possibly Adventurers Wanted, Book One: Slathbog's Gold by M.L. Forman? One of the details I remember is that the adventurers have bags of holding with interiors large enough they can live inside.
