Query abandoned by poster > ABANDONED. Epic fantasy, pretty dark. ice was a big thing in the book. There was a princess, who was maybe being attacked by someone? There was also a tribe of people that lived in a tundra, and there was a little girl with agoraphobia in that tribe

Ash and Cinder (ashandcinder) | 4 comments I read it 10-12 years ago. It was a series, but I read only the first book. The title or the series possibly has something to do with ice or ash, or maybe a sword?

Sebastian | 28 comments I don't know if this is it, but when I read the post I thought of the "Malazan book of the fallen" series. Gardens of the Moon

Ash and Cinder ~~
You can "bump" your thread every month or so. This pushes your thread back to the top of the folder instead of languishing here on page 98 from two months ago where fewer eyes will see it. Get back in the game! Bump!
You can do this by typing a new comment at the end of the thread, or even by typing the word "bump."
Good luck!

STU | 63 comments The Ring of Allaire by Susan Dexter?
Book 1 of the Winter King's War trilogy

Can't remember it being particularly dark.

Master magician Blais was dead, murdered by the evil ice-lord Nimir. Now there was only Tristan, an ill-trained apprentice, to carry on the quest to rescue Allaire, a princess held in enchanted sleep in Nimir's frozen halls. Though a thousand master mages had already failed in the quest, Tristan must succeed — or all of Calandra would be doomed by Nimir's greed.
