Gisela (chicadorlando) | 4022 comments I'm not liking these characters much, except for Jem.

ShoSho (shoshost) | 12263 comments Lisa Kay’s Questions(Edited by ShoSho)for Chapters 9-13

18.What do you think of Tessa attempts to conduct herself like a Baroness? Why do you think Tessa is unable to “touch” Lady Belcourt’s thoughts?

19.Why would Jem warn Will not to start a fight with Gabriel Lightwood? Did you expect the dislike to steam from a woman virtue? And Gabriel’s brother is worse? That Christmas party must have been a doozy. BTW, on the audio, Gabriel Lightwood has a bit of a slip (“wag” for “rags”).

20. Did any other member of the Enclave stand out to you? If so, why?

21.What did you think about the whole raid ,from finding the Blueprint and Nathan being on that chair to the Phosphor and what happened between De quincy ,Will and Tessa?

22. De quincy got away ! Were you surprised?

23. So, Nathaniel is not supernatural. What might Tessa be, beside “one of Lilith’s Children”? Does this rule out her being related to Nathaniel by blood? Could she be his half-sister? Was she rescued at birth, and therefore not related even to the parents who raised her (before her aunt)? What other power – rare power – could she have?

24.Who could Cecily be?

25.What did you think of Tess & Will’s first kiss? (And he did call her Tess right before he kissed her.) What was the “that” that happened? Was she too forward? Why did he send her away?

26. Whoa! Jessamine has taken a fancy to the unconscious Nate. Comments.

27.I wasn't a bit surprised it was Jem who followed Tessa, were you? He seems to be the peacekeeper. What did you think of their discussion about Will?

Me neither ! I thought the Shadowhunters were a bit slow minded and not very bright!
The villains were the kind that I hate the most ! The ones that do the villainous laugh and explain everything and talk too much instead of acting!

Gisela (chicadorlando) | 4022 comments There are a few things that bothered me.

1. The rudeness - Everyone was rude to Henry and Charlotte just lets it slide. Jessamine was rude to Tessa, a guest, and nobody calls her to task. Tessa was rude to the Shadowhunters who saved her life, mind you. She never says thank you but worries about having to be thankful to Charlotte for a borrowed dress. Um hello! You only have the clothes on your back! Which have to absolutely filthy since every time she Changed into someone who bled her clothes would get bloodied.

2- Tessa - aside from being rude, she is so poor she sold her clothes to pay for her aunt's funeral yet she is very well read and knows where Shangai is. Who taught her? Where did her love of reading come from? Did she work for a living? We know nothing from her life before she arrived on the Main.

3- Will- what a jerk! Why exactly did Tessa fall in love with him?

4- Jem- he's here only to contrast Will and as the requisite 3rd for the Love Triangle.

5- Jessamine- she's supposed to be so bitchy that Tessa looks good but it doesn't work.

Gisela (chicadorlando) | 4022 comments Oh and how exactly does the Magister retain his position of power?

message 59: by ShoSho , Moderator (new) - rated it 3 stars

ShoSho (shoshost) | 12263 comments I agree with you on all your points .
I think I liked Jessamine the most !

ShoSho (shoshost) | 12263 comments There were so many thing unresolved ,of course it's a trilogy ,we don't want to have all the answers but some would have been great .

message 61: by Gisela, Moderator (new) - rated it 2 stars

Gisela (chicadorlando) | 4022 comments As it was I don't feel anything was solved, in the end Tessa was exactly in the same position as in the beginning. She was alone in a foreign country running from the Magister. Except now she knows who he is and that her brother is worthless.

LOL ! I don't think I would read the next one either!

Ipshita (miss_romanceaholic) | 397 comments I started reading the book today. I was on a vacation and things had been hectic for the past couple of days. I hope to catch up soon, even though the three and two stars that have been given to the book is not really making me feel too eager about it.

You might like it ,Ipshita. LK loved it so ...

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 20787 comments I did love it. But then, I'd never read anything like it before. I did like CC's writing, who I had never read before. Plus, I knew it was YA going in, which I don't read very often.

Ipshita (miss_romanceaholic) | 397 comments Even I haven't read anything like this before, so I'll hope for the best then.

Just finished it. I would have enjoyed it a lot more if I haven't read City of Bones. Throughout the book I kept thinking "City of Bones copy" and couldn't connect with anything, nor the characters nor the plot. The beginning ruined this book for me. I'm so disappointed. But even though the book was bad, I really enjoyed the buddy read! I'll definitely be doing this more often. :)

Yes! I don't like trilogies that leave all the answers to the final book.

message 70: by Gisela, Moderator (new) - rated it 2 stars

Gisela (chicadorlando) | 4022 comments Neither do I! I prefer it if each book in the trilogy gives us some sense of closure. That way I can feel I finished a book not that I stopped mid chapter.
