Introducing Myself

Hello everyone. I am new to this group so thought I should introduce myself. I am 24 years old and totally blind, the result of a brain tumor as a baby which destroyed my optic nerve. Despite this disability, I have lived a normal life. I love dogs, especially my sweet yellow lab, Gilbert who has been my guide dog since 2008, as well as my unofficial emotional support dog when college was rough. I love writing about him too. I look forward to meeting other dog-lovers and writers through this group.

Woof to all my fellow dog lovers. My name is Maureen O'Brien and I have recently published a dogor, titled "Waggin' Tales: Bogey's Memoir." It is available on Amazon.com and Create Space. Bogey's Memoir is a story about second chances. My husband and I adopted Bogey after he was given to our local humane society. His prior owners said he was stupid and untrainable. Such Nonsense! Within two months of adopting him, he became a certified therapy dog. He blossomed into a legendary therapy dog here in Myrtle Beach, SC.
