Rachel Okay so I read Obsidian and proceeded to read Saving Angel and I felt like I was rereading Obsidian! Something's going on here. Either I'm insane orrr an author has some explaining to do.

Bailey Your not insane, I've read them both too. I also feel like they are the same. But if you look at the ratings and comments underneath the summary of Saving Angel you'll see that your not alone. I guess it's a matter of which book came first. Plus I've been on J.L. Weil website and there of pictures of book covers that I'm guessing she's read and Onyx is one of them. Hope this helps!

marie Are they similar yes but both series are excellent in their own right. I think that's why I love them so much. Everyone girl needs a Deamon and a Chase.

Bailey SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO AGREE WITH YOU MARIE!!!! I seriously need them both. (yep, i'm going to die alone because I cant find someone like them!)

Blair I read the reviews before I read saving angel so I knew it was similar. I was surprised at how similar. And although I love chase (i mean he is essentially daemon, the love of my life) its was disappointing with how similar the stories. did you guys continue to read the rest of the series after noticing the similarities? i am just because 1. i like chase and 2. im curious to see if the rest of the series will be like the lux series. im hoping more differences come up as the series goes on.

marie Attitude. .. yes just like Damon but the story does become it's own. The constant bickering between Chase and Angel yes but most books have that anymore. I think you'll like it because you have that lux feel to it. I love the lux series and wanted something similar, well you get that with this.

Blair I just finished the 2nd one. I think the story definitely does become its own in the 2nd book but the first book I feel like was not its own story at all. I wish ppl knew that because I think a lot of ppl probably stopped reading after the first if they were turned off by the similarities. I had faith and I think it paid off :) Either way I am glad it went in a different direction in the 2nd book and I am getting ready to start the 3rd in like ten mins. For now I think I still do like the lux series better in terms of the story and the way it was written but Im not sure if I like Daemon or Chase better. Chase is on my brain right now I guess because I have been reading about him all day lol.

chinami i have not read saving angel. i dont like the lux series anyway. didn't Jennifer armentrout copied off Vampire Academy to her book half blood? that's totally wrong and someone copied hers.

Aria where can i get saving angel in canada?

have you read the covenant series (half blood)? I heard that it is VERY similar to the vampire academy series but as it progresses it becomes it's own series. so technically she didn't copy Richelle Mead. two series may start out the same, but they go in different directions. if you only read half blood and not the other books and if you have read vampire academy, yeah, you might see similarities but it's not fair to say that Jennifer l Armentrout copied Richelle mead with her VA series, if you only read the first one in her covenant series.

I'm sure it's the same case with this series. The Divisia series right? anyhow obsidian and saving angel, can both start out the same, but I'm sure they both have elements that differentiate from each other, and make them there own story/series.

i agree that series' can just start out the same and end differently however i do think there were too many similarities between obsidian and saving angel (even the smallest details) to be a coincidence. i know in YA books a lot of the same themes, character types and stuff are similar across books. so i gave weil the benefit of the doubt. but at some point it just became hard to believe that these two authors just had the exact same ideas for the characters, the main themes, the events, the order of events, and like i said, the smaller details that usually are what differentiate even the most similar books from one another. i will say that i am on book 3 in this series and it seems that the book has taken a different turn so it is ending differently and i am liking it a lot more because of that. so i agree its hard to judge when you dont read the entire series. I havent read vampire academy or half blood. they are both on my list. so i hope they arent too similar.

chinami when an author starts out by outright copying, the first impression a reader gets is that of how bad the author is.

Bonnie Cross Saving angel and obsidian are totally copies but the series does get interesting and starts forming in the second book, nos im about to rad the third, no one will beat Daemon but Chase comes preety close
