Ben Dolata | 4 comments I read this book around 20 years ago at my school library. My memories of this book are vague and I might not have the details correct. It was a fantasy book where the material that the magic wands the characters used was very important. If I recall correctly the most powerful magic users had gold wands, and silver was next powerful, and so on. The main character was noted to be unusual for having violet (or possibly purple) eyes.

Becca (beccalikesbooks) | 5545 comments Purple / violet eyes are a bit of a fantasy trope - there's various examples listed under 'Literature' on the TVTropes page - https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.ph...

Ben Dolata | 4 comments The Night of the Solstice would be the right reading level and around the right publication date, but I’m not seeing anything about the different types of wands in the description I’ve read about the book.

Part of a series?
Time period/location story takes place?
Were there other fantasy elements, like dragons, goblins, etc?

Ben, can you tell us more about the characters, plot or setting (e.g., magic school)?

I added some details to the header/topic title. You can update it by clicking the small "edit" link after the header. This only works on the full Desktop website - not the Mobile website or app. (On the Mobile website, click the "Desktop version" link at the bottom of the page.)

Ben Dolata | 4 comments I think the characters were learning to use magic. I don’t think there was a formal school, but I may be remembering incorrectly. I don’t remember any other fantasy elements such as dragons.
