I started the 1818 edition, which starts with 4 letters. I for some reason thought it was Frankenstein writing the letters, but they were signed Robert Walton, so whoops. Enjoyable and engaging intro!

letters 1-4 spoilers: (view spoiler)[This could be an unreliable narrator, this sheltered lad believing all the sailor's stories (yes I swear I bought a farm and just gave it to my fiance's lover). Possible foreshadowing with Walton wanting a friend to talk to, that's what Frank wanted as well (maybe, I forget his actual reason). (hide spoiler)]
