I read this book when I was a teenager in the 90s. It was about a girl who finds out she has cancer and this boy helps her through it. He also has cancer. They fall in love and I think he died a the end. Any ideas on the name of the book? I want to say the boys name is David but I'm not positive.

Could it be be Invincible Summer? I don't remember the boy's name or really any particular details, but this was published in the late 80s and reviewers say it has a sad ending.
