Chapter and Verse for Windows.
Audiobook Binder for Mac."
I downloaded Audiobook Binder for Mac and now can't for the life of me figure out how to get a book from Overdrive into it. The book from Overdrive gets downloaded to my Mac in a Zip file. I can't drag it into Audiobook Binder and can't open any individual files. Has anyone else with a Mac done this? Then, if you get the files in Audiobook Binder, and can convert the format, are you able to bring it into Audible? Is this making sense?
Thanks in advance!

Thanks to everyone.

Maybe first unpack the zip file?

Thanks you Hunchback! Suddenly my Audiobook Builder stopped working and will not be restarted. I will not even go to the trouble of re installing, I will go and have a look at Audibook Binder, which is free, o joy.
I'm not the only one with the ABB not working any more, maybe a little time bomb went off...

But I doubt I will bother. I have used the free Audiobook binder HJ recommended yesterday, and it did the job much faster and without the flaws ABB sometimes had (all chapters twice in a file e.g.).

This table shows the max length supported at each sample rate:
Sample rate of 8.0 kHz = 74.6 hrs max
Sample rate of 12.0 kHz = 49.7 hrs max
Sample rate of 16.0 kHz = 37.3 hrs max
Sample rate of 22.05 kHz = 27.1 hrs max
Sample rate of 24.0 kHz = 24.9 hrs max
Sample rate of 32.0 kHz = 18.6 hrs max
Sample rate of 44.1 kHz = 13.5 hrs max
Sample rate of 48.0 kHz = 12.4 hrs max
So a 20 hour audiobook should be encoded at 24.0 kHz. This is regardless of chapter size.
If you don't do this, some players will have trouble seeking and playing positions near the end of the book.

HJ, I used Chapter and Verse for a couple of years when I was working with libravox; however I haven't used it since I upgraded to Win10, and when I tried today, it made me upgrade. Now it won't let me convert mp3 files until after I've converted them to AAC files.... sigh.... I've never used Audiobook Binder, will I have to go thru all of these "changes" with that too? Which of the two do you prefer? <><

Yes, I don't like Chapter and Verse so much because of that. I prefer Audiobook Binder. However, the former is Windows while the latter is Mac OS X.
I'm sorry, I don't know of a free m4b creator on Windows that converts mp3s in one step.

Ha! I was afraid you were going to say that.... LOL
... and it's ok that it took a couple of days, cause I went out of town for several days, and am just now getting back to the computer... sigh... <><

What I have done is simply this:
1. imported mp3 files into itunes, they are listed under music.
2. select get info on the first file of the book
under details tab add 01 to the album field. for example The Girl With All the Gifts becomes 01 The Girl With All the Gifts
click the options tab and change music to audiobook and click ok
3. do this for all remaining book files
4. goto books then click audiobooks and you will see each part as its own book which you can now drag to you phone and they will show up in audible with the proper part label so you can listen in the correct order at the speed you want.
I know this can be painful for books with many many parts, but for those with 10 or so, its only a few mins to get setup.
If someone has a more automated method, I look forward to any feedback.
