We know that September is around the corner, but we would like to roll out our pick for October with enough time for everyone to get their skeletal hands on it! So here is the thread for October suggestions. You know what to do. Thanks everyone.

C.S. O’Cinneide | 19 comments Sam has my book recommendation. But I am happy to read whatever spooky tale is chosen for our Halloween month.

Matt (TeamRedmon) (teamredmon) I nominate Under the Blade by Matt Serafini

Brother by Ania Ahlborn

If You See Her by Ania Ahlborn

I've been hearing great things about this author but have yet to read anything by her, so I'm pitching a couple options! :)

I'll second Brother!

Still pondering some recommendations!

C.S. O’Cinneide | 19 comments I like the description of If you see her. I know Sam and I talked about this one as a possibility too. Petra's Ghost
But not sure if you want to do a book with the author in the group.

Sara and I had a bit of a chat on this. We definitely aren't opposed to reading books by authors in the group, and we love interacting with authors on their work! But we do want to set up some ground rules (I'll be throwing a new thread up about this too so no one misses it).
1) A member of the group needs to be the one putting the book forward. So going forward, any books by authors in the group can't be proposed by the author themselves, or myself or Sara.
2) We still want you guys to be able to share your books with us! We love finding new authors and books to explore, so we don't want to take that opportunity away from members who happen to also be authors. To that end, I'll be setting up a self-promotion thread where the authors of the group can drop links, a synopsis, any deals that may be going on their books, etc.

I hope that sounds fair to everyone, but if you guys have comments or suggestions, we're definitely open to them!

Ohhh yes! The Grand Dark has been on my radar for a while, definitely second that one!

Joyce (beagleandbooks) | 15 comments GUYS! I read Brother by Ania Ahlborn and IT IS SO GOOD! I would love to discuss.

Caution- the book is totally disturbing and disgusting BUT SO SO GOOD. Like I’m questioning how screwed up I am because I have no moral conflicts with the content of this book.

SOO GOOD FROM BEGINNING TO END!

I had never heard of The Grand Dark but now I am also intrigued.

Cynthia (cyntax) I really like Petra’s Ghost! There’s a scene that literally gave me chills.

Sounds good to me. 🤙

PizzaVenkman May I suggest Kill Creek? Super interesting paranormal premise about a couple writers who have to stay in a haunted house...

Just an update that Petra's Ghost (along with 4 other women authored books) was elevated by reader "write-ins" to the semi-final round of the Goodreads Choice Awards for Horror!
