Christina (bookcrussh) Hello! My name is Christina. I am 17 years old. I love reading YA books, but I love discussing them even more. I'm somewhat argumentative by nature, but I'm not a jerk about it.

Yes. That last sentence was a bit random.

message 1305: by Emily (new)

Emily D (fallingforya) | 34 comments I think I'm a little late with this, I have been a member for a bit but Paranormalcy is the first book discussion I participated in so I figured I should introduce myself.

My name is Emily and I'm 22. I just graduated from Portland State University in Portland, Oregon and I am going to Law School in the Fall. I eventually want to be a Law Librarian so lots of school coming up!

I have always used reading as my escape from real life and after trying a lot of different genres I always come back to YA. Anyways! I hope to see you in the discussion =D

message 1306: by J.D. (new)

J.D. Stroube | 1 comments Hi Everyone!

My name is J.D. and I LOVE YA (my fav)! I think that the plots tend to be more interesting. Although, I do love other genres. ;) The first YA author I fell for was L.J. Smith, but that was roughly 13 years ago when her books first came out (they just began to be re-released). My favorite YA author now is Richelle Mead, but Rick Riordan is a close second.

Feel free to add me as a friend. :)

They were actually good. I can't wait to see the books we'll read together. Right now, I am just starting The Throne of Fire by Rick Riordan. :)

The Romance Bookie (theromancebookie) | 9 comments I'm The Romance Bookie, it's kind of become my secret alias, I just really wanted some place to let out my love for books, because no one ever listens to me, and thinks I'm probably kind of a hermit, which most of the time doesn't really bother me, because it's what I love to do! But I have a blog, I'll add the link below. On it I write reviews about all the great books I read!

message 1336: by Georgia (new)

Georgia McBride (georgia_mcbride) | 2 comments Hi everyone. I'm Georgia McBride, speculative fiction writer for teens and Tweens. I'm also founder of yalitchat.org and the #yalitchat chat on twitter eac Wednesday at 9PM ET. Love being here. I love doing school and skype visits where I talk to kids (grade to high school) about the life of a writer, how books go from our heads to the shelves, storytelling and how books go from shelves to film! One of my favorite events is career day! When not doing that, I speak at conferences and perform editorial work for authors and publishers. Oh and I vet YA and MG novel submissions for twelve literary agents.

message 1337: by Laura (last edited Aug 05, 2011 07:23AM) (new)

Laura (snorkle) | 10 comments Hello!
I'm a YA fanatic/obsessive reader who reads like their life depends on it. Currently, my favorite genre right now are Dystopians. I can't get enough of those! I have a book reviews (My Sentiments Exactly!) blog. I tend to read A LOT more books during the summer because I'm not caught up in the crazy schedule of school and activities.

Preferably new releases that have just been published and will be published throughout the school year. Please send me your suggestions. You can contact me at bookbragger.sarah@gmail.com or in this club in the comments.
Thanks and Good Reading!

message 1341: by Abigale (new)

Abigale Hello, my name is Sarah and I will be hosting a Young Adult Book Club at my children's school.
Is this club for girls and boys??????

message 1342: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (thebookbragger) | 2 comments I prefer to have a reading list that would not alienate boys, however, I expect it to be mostly girls. For example, Hunger Games and the Eragon series is enjoyed by both sexes.
I could have a couple of choices per month if enough suggestions.
Thanks, Sarah :)

message 1343: by Lydia (new)

Lydia | 2 comments Hi, my name is Lydia and I love to read. I am currently reading 2 books.

message 1345: by Kristine (new)

Kristine Muir (kristinemuir) | 2 comments Hello. Like many of you, I am a junior high English teacher, so young adult literature is my calling. I have implemented a reading program for the last five years inspired by The Book Whisperer by Donalyn Miller. It has worked wonders for teenagers. If you want to know more, let me know. I would love to share my program.

message 1346: by Vered (new)

Vered (vered_ehsani) Can't remember if I introduced myself to this group: I'm Vered, live in Kenya, raising 2 kids and writing novels for teens. I just had a bit of a shock this week. My website got hacked by "Number 7 Tunisian Hacker"! He must have been inspired by ‘I am Number 4’ or something. My IT friend fixed the problem pretty quick, and told me I was lucky the hacker only left a cheeky message; he could have turned my website into a porn site. Yeah, I feel lucky now!

message 1347: by Quinn (new)

Quinn | 2 comments Hi everyone! My name is Quinn, and I joined this group because I am addicted to reading! Currently have been reading books for my school over the summer, but they have been great ones like The Help, Memoirs of a Geisha, and, right now, The Grapes of Wrath. :)
