Stefne Miller (stefnemiller) | 6 comments My name is Stefne Miller. I'm glad to know that I'm not the only "old person" who enjoys Young Adult fiction. I enjoy it more than any other genre.
My favorite YA novels range from classics to contemporary.
Bridge to Terabithia
To Kill a Mockingbird
Twilight
Eclipse

Is it terrible if I also say one of my favorites is the one I wrote? Salvaged by Stefne Miller

I enjoy seeing what other people read and what it is they love about Young Adult fiction. This is a great group.

I think it's great that your own book is one of your favs! Why not- you wrote it how you wanted it! I think If I ever write a book I will feel the same way.

This book has been on my tbr since I saw it on the giveaway list... sadly I didn't win, but I am still going to find it and read it!

Hello.
My name is Therese, and I am a teenager. I'm not english, so my english can be sort of simple, and maybe even bad. I love reading, always have, always will. Always. Since I am a young adult/teenager thing, I joined this group to read more books, if you get my drift.

Can I ask something? I am very new here, and I don't actually completely know how a group works. Shame on me. Any chance someone would like to tell me? That would be great.

message 1069: by [deleted user] (new)

Hi,
I'm Michelle Newell and I love YA books - lately, I've been seeking out the books I read when I was a teen (I'm now in my early 30s) as well as reading lots of new books too! I'm an aspiring YA novelist, but have only just started plotting my first one after years of procrastination.
Looking forward to reading along with you all!
M.

message 1070: by Becca (new)

Becca (becks4books) Hi! My name is Becca and I am a recent YA convert. I am a librarian assistant working toward my MLIS. I also dabble in writing and have a blog so that I can procrastinate even more efficiently. You can find my rantings at http://missingthemuse.blogspot.com where I also sporadically discuss what I'm reading. I'm a huge, HUGE, spectacuraly ginormous Hunger Games fan, but seem to be on a zombie kick right now. I was going to type "YA rules!" but then that always reminds me of "San Dimas High School football rules!" from Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure. And I didn't want to look like a dork. ;p

message 1071: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (snugshelf) Hi everyone :) I'm Amanda, I'm 16 and I live in Tennessee. I love all kinds of books, but especially YA, Fantasy/SciFi, Romance, Paranormal, & Historical Fiction. :) I love this group, I've been in it for a while, just never introduced myself. I've read some great books as a result of this group featuring them. I'm reading I Heart You, You Haunt Me, which is great so far, and fitting with Halloween this month I think.

Caroline (Words & Whispers) (wordsandwhispers) | 5 comments Hey! I'm Caroline, and I have a serious young adult book obsession. I'm fourteen, and I love ranting about how much I love (or hate) the books I'm reading. I have a book reviewing blog that I just started, and I hope to someday be a professional reviewer. Scribble Orca (scribbleorca) hello YA readers (and writers, by the looks!).

i'm legal, have a licence, finished school, like classical music, midnight oil, pink floyd, and world music (angelique kidjo, african percussion).

i had to read all of HP more times than you want to know. i read children of the lamp to book 3, i liked the golden compass and the amber spyglass. lemony snicket was funny and the alchmyst was interesting. have still to get into percy jackson and artemis fowl.

look forward to meeting all of you.

message 1083: by Jessica (new)

Jessica (bookwormlove666) | 9 comments Hi! I'm Jessica. I love YA books, I think I always will, I just started to read some romance novels too, but I keep going back to YA. I like to write, but nothing is published (I'm no good, and I tend to start writing a few things at once and never finishing any of them). But I always have a book with me, wherever I go (even if I know I won't have time to read it, it's weird). I think this group is going to be really cool for more ideas on what to read next (even though my bookshelf has probably close to 70 books that I still need to read on it now). I have an addiction to books, and I keep buying more even though I haven't finished the ones I have already, but I'm starting to read a lot more now that I was in the past couple years.

I am a full time sophomore in college, and I work two part time jobs. I just got my drivers license last summer (I put off learning to drive for a few years, but I don't regret it, I think less 16 year olds should be on the road).

Anyway, I am currently reading 4 books, I start too many at once, but when reading books, I do actually finish them. I have a few favorite authors that I will read anything they write, but I will take recommendations for new books too, I like reading new types of YA since every author is different.

I look forward to reading the books that are discussed here, though I'll be starting with November's book since I'm already reading 4 books and I don't already have this month's book on my book shelf.

- Jessica

Lahni Hello, I'm Lahni. I'm glad to find this group. I have just rekindled my love of reading and enjoy reading many types of books including young adult books. I have two middle school kids that read a lot as well and we love to swap books! I also have one kid in 3rd grade and 2 preschoolers. I look forward to some great discussions and discovering some great books.

Yasmin | 1 comments Hello!
My name is Yasmin and I love to read more than anything. I am 18, in my senior year of high school. I used to go to several different book clubs at my local libraries but they were all stopped. I love to discuss books and I am so glad I found this group. I can't wait to read the first book!

message 1088: by Kristi (new)

Kristi (krististern) Hello to everyone! I'm Kristi, I'm an RN and a voracious reader. I love all YA books but I'm partial to paranormal/urban fantasy.

I've got a blog site that is still a work in progress; I didn't think it would be so hard to get it going! I'd be embarrassed for anybody to see it just yet! Kudos to those of you with such great sites!

I love writing reviews mostly so I can express how I felt about the book but also because I appreciate others reviews, too. I use other peoples reviews to help me decide on what books I want to get, so I appreciate a good review!

I've been sick with a rare disease and reading has been a great coping mechanism for me. It's escapism at it's finest! I love going into an alternate world and disappearing for a while and just losing myself into the story.

So, it's nice to meet you all and I look forward to getting to know everyone!

*MystGrrl Reviews* (mystgrrlreviews) | 3 comments Hi there, my name is Heidy and 24 years old. I live in sunny Queensland, Australia and I'm a massive bookworm. I like reading Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Urban Fairie Tales, Ghost stories, Supernatural stories, old Fairy Tales with new twists, Fiction & Historical Fiction. So I guess you can say I'm a bit of an all-round reader. I hoping to get a e-reader for Xmas but my fiance reckons if he get me one he'll never see me again, lol!!!!

Look forward to group reading discussions :-)

Welcome all! :) I'm jealous Heidy, Australia seems beautiful. Plus you guys have awesome accents.

message 1092: by Kristi (new)

Kristi (krististern) TY for the nice welcome! I agree, Amanda, Australia seems fascinating and the accents are pretty awesome!

Mystgrrl/Heidy, I hope you get your e-reader! I think you'll love it! I still love real books and e-books but the majority of my reading is done on a Kindle.

Jasmin, I miss book clubs! What kind of clubs did you belong to? My small town has an even smaller library but the hospital I work at is in the 'city' so we swap books a lot or pick a book to read. I haven't been working for a bit but they still include me in. I participate whenever I can.

message 1093: by Tatiana (new)

Tatiana Hi, my name is Tatiana. This is the first group I've joined here on Goodreads. Even though I'm out of the target demographic reading audience, I think the YA genre is full of good writers, stories, and characters. For the last couple of years, I've found myself gravitating to the YA section of the library, and always loving what I picked up there, sometimes more than anything on the adult fiction shelves. So I figure I might as well give in completely and enjoy it. :)

Sara Dessen, Judy Blume, Gayle Forman, and Suzanne Collins are probably my favorite authors in this genre. I'm also guilty of vampire love, from Twilight to The Vampire Diaries.

I'm looking forward to falling into the swing of things with this group, starting with getting my hands on I Heart You, You Haunt Me before the end of the month. It was already on my to-read shelf, so it's a two birds, one stone situation. :)

*MystGrrl Reviews* (mystgrrlreviews) | 3 comments Thanx for the warm welcome :-)

Hey G N - Yeah, I use to move around a lot when I was in school and going to the school library during lunch to read became a habit. I got branded as being a mystery girl, so hence Myst(ery)Grrl, lol!!!

Hi Amanda - Australia can be beautiful when it wants to be. At the moment it's chucking a spat and rainging a lot but everyone is holding out for the days when it's sunny enough to hit the beach. Aussie accents huh? Funny how you never notice when it yourself with the accent. I think Scottish/American accents are pretty cool :-)

Kristi - Yeah, I love the real book feel & smell but if I got a kindle I probably gobble up a lot more books, lol!!!

Hope your all having a good day :-)

message 1095: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (snugshelf) ^
Chucking a spat? Is that like throwing a fit? Lol I've never heard that particular phrase before. Maybe it's some supercool Australian thing. :) That's kinda funny, I live in Tennessee, where we had some rain in the past few days, and everyone got all excited because we haven't had a significant amount of rain in about 5 months. Or so I'm told.
That's awesome, I didn't know anyone liked American accents. :)

Yeah that's right, throwing a fit :-) We'll make an Aussie out of you yet ;-)

American accents are cool, like you pronounce your "T"s as "D"s :-)

Though I don't find street "gangsta" talk appealing, like those try-hards on US crime shows like COPS =-p

Yeah we were on Water Level Warnings to conserve water for a while but it's been raining so much here lately our Dams are now actually full :-)

We do? I honestly had no idea hahah. No, no, I really don't like "gangsta" talk either. It just makes people sound so unintelligent. I live in Memphis though, (you may know already, but the city has kind of a rep for being full of gangs and gangsters and such) so I hear it quite a bit.

message 1100: by Scribble (new)

Scribble Orca (scribbleorca) I thought Memphis was famous because of Elvis? Don't throw a hissy because I wrote that, ok? :D
