Hi everyone! I'm so glad to be a member of this group. My name is Robyn McFarland and I'm a junior high school reading/drama teacher. I LOVE books, and YA books are my favorite to read. I've read way too many to list here, but more recently I've read the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series, the Twilight series and I've read the first two books in the Fablehaven series. For the holidays I got a kindle, so it will be a lot easier to take my books with me whether I go. I'm looking forward to reading the January book and talking with others on here.
Hey everyone! My name is Gokce, I'm 26 years old, I live in the UK and just recently discovered this genre and loving it! I was a big fan of the Harry Potter books, and recently I've read the first two books of the Hunger Games series, which I absolutely loved, and The Darkest Powers series. I'm eagerly waiting for the last books to these two trilogies. I also read the first book of The Vampire Academy series. I'm always open to suggestions, please recommend me any books that you loved, I'd love to read more! Hope to be around more and discuss the monthly readings!
@gocke. You are British and haven't yet read "his dark materials" trilogy by phillip Pullman? Amazing YA reads.

"Hey Bryan, thanks for the recommendation, I've actually heard about it a lot, just never got around to read it yet. I'll add it to my to-read list though, see if I can find it at the local library. And I'm not actually British, but that's no excuse! :)
Hi! My name is Emily Bridges, and I am an avid reader and aspiring writer. I am a senior in high school, and have been writing a novel with my best friend for the past two years (our word count is over 80,000!). I just recently joined Goodreads, and this group caught my eye because of the books that have been read in the past, all of which I love! I look forward to discovering and discussing more wonderful books! :)
Hi, I'm Betsy, a children/teen librarian in a small town in Western New York.I love YA books and the majority of what I read is YA. Since I've been working as a librarian, my TBR pile has just gotten bigger and bigger. I used to feel bad that I'd have 30 books out from the library at a time, but not any more. I just wish I had more time to read! I'm looking forward to being a part of this group.

Hello! My name is Carllee, I'm 24 years old, and I'm from Boulder, CO. I'm currently a graduate student at Naropa University, where I'm working on my Master's in Religious Studies. My goal is to get my Ph.D. in Religious Studies, with a focus on religious influences in children's literature and youth culture, and teach at the college level. I work as a nanny and barista, as well as occasionally playing receptionist at a car shop and a hair salon. I LOVE children's and young adult literature. My favorite books include: His Dark Materials series, Ender's Game series, The Queen's Thief series, Invitation to the Game,The Giver, The Hunger Games, Twilight series, Harry Potter series, The Immortal Instruments series anything by Margaret Peterson Haddix, Amelia Atwater-Rhodes, or Garth Nix or pretty much any YA book that deals with the apocalypse, dystopias, the end of the world, or vampires.
I also love Shannon Hale but have never gotten around to reading Princess Academy so I'm super excited to read it as my first book in the club.

Hello I am a new found lover of YA books. I have read Beautiful Creatures and the Hunger Games and now I am reading Catching fire. I have Shiver and Hush, Hush to read next. I just love these books, not sure why as I am 52 and have read my share of adult novels. These books just seem to draw me into another world..any suggestions on good reads?
Welcome new members! YA books are the best! Can't wait to see what you guys think of our book club picks!
Hi everyone! My name is Joanna, and as you can tell from my user name, I work for Annick Press, a publishing company based in Toronto, Canada. We publish about 30 books for kids and teens each year. (All the books on the Annick GoodReads account are Annick books, so feel free to browse.)
I love YA fiction: I've read all the Harry Potter books, all the Twilight books (though I'm not a fan), and I've got Wintergirls and The Hunger Games in my TBR pile. Last year I really enjoyed Little Brother and If I Stay.
I tend to like urban fiction (especially if it's set in high school), humour, and dystopian/post-apocalyptic stories (it's not YA but Margaret Atwood's books Oryx and Crake and The Year of the Flood were amazing).
Looking forward to talking about YA books!

Hello I am Stephanie, I am 23 and living in Herndon, VA. I am a graduate student studying Art History and YA books are my escape. I love them. I am a huge fan of Harry Potter, Twilight, and the Wicked Lovely series and have always been fascinated by fantasy of any kind.
I look forward to more good books, if anyone has any recommendations let me know.
Thanks!

Well, specfically I compared religious ideologies in His Dark Materials and the Chronicles of Narnia and how Pullman, in part, wrote his books are an anti-religious responce to the Christianity on Lewis' series. Hmm as you can see I love talking about this topic so I would be thrilled to discuss it in depth with everyone here!
Thank you for the warm welcome!
Hello, everyone! I'm Rae (my nickname as I have gone by it here on goodreads since I joined). I am a teen who lives in West Virginia (and just so you know, whether you care or not, I absolutely despise when a person finds out you are from WV and they say something like: "Oh really? I know someone/have a friend who lives in Richmond." I get aggravated by it and feel like lashing out at those people because if they were paying attention in school they would know that West Virginia separated from Virginia in the Civil War.) I'll read any book (though generally not nonfiction) if it sounds interesting, though I have been known to stop reading a book if it doesn't interest me as I am reading it. Some of my favorite YA books include those by Shannon Hale (Goose Girl and Princess Academy are my faves- though the rest of the Books of Bayern are good as well) The Hunger Games Trilogy, and many of Meg Cabot's books as well as many more. If I couldn't read books, I don't know what I would do as I always have my nose in a book.
Hi, My name is Deborah.I read a mixture of mainly Sci-Fi, Fantacy, Young Adult, and anything that really catches my eye or is put into my hands by friends or fellow co-workers.
I believe a lot of people don't appreciate young adult liturature. Though reading The Giver, A Wrinkle in Time I really don't see how. And a great many are simply fun to read. Diana Wynne Jones is one of my favorite YA authors.

Hi!!! I am a 6th grader and I loved the Percy Jackson Series when I was in 4th Grade and 5th Grade. I would reccomend the Artemis Fowl Series by Eoin Colfer(4th/5th grade level)and books by Andrew Clements(3rd/4th grade level). Maybe the Chronicles of Narnia or The Books of Ember. My third grade teacher read Frindle to my class, and I just fell in loved with Andrew Clements. He is awesome!! Good luck! :)

Greetings all! I'm Ashlee, I'm an aspiring YA Author. Between orignial novels and editing I have three FanFictions available to read online which I write for fun and a bit of a break on the more serious, far too planned out worlds in which I create.
To say I read is quite an understatement, I tend to read at the very least three or four books in a week, however I rarely update my "Currently-Reading" to reflect this. Just too much work that I don't have the time for!
I joined this group to help me gain a larger perspective on reading, as I'm trying to stop restricting myself to fantasy, urban-fantasy, sci-fi and horror. I enjoy discussing books so I believe this group will be the perfect place for me to do this!
Hi! I'm Laura and I've recently been trying to read more books more often. My current favorite is The Hunger Games series.
Becoming Alice: A MemoirHi! I'm Alice and the author of a Becoming Alice, A Memoir. My book has won several YA Awards: Nat'l Best Book 2009 Award, Finalist YA Non-fiction Category, Hollywood Book Festival 2009 Award, Winner Teenage Category, and Reader Views Award Program 2007 First Place YA Category. Other awards are listed on my website: http://www.alicerene.com on the Awards and Praise page. Hope you'll visit!

Hi happy readers! My name's Lema, been on goodreads a while, absolutely loving it, but never introduced myself here. Have recently got into books after reading the twilight series. Is openminded about reading all sorts of genres, but not so when it comes to horror...! However, i enjoy YA most of all, and love the group reads, (if only i was a quick reader, to keep up!) Next i am looking forward to reading evermore and the uglies. Cant wait!
Hey!My name is Steve, and I'm a college student from Pittsburgh, PA. I've always LOVED YA literature, and recently took a class in it. It's opened my eyes to how complex the genre of YA lit is, and how underrated. Once I get used to GoodReads, I'll start actively participating and reading books that the group are.
Thanks!
Hello everyone, I'm Sara and I'm a Psychology student. I'm an artist and a writer as well. Mostly I'm blogging but currently I write novels and some short stories. I mostly read books of Meg Cabot, Sitta Karina, Dee (Dewi Lestari) and Becca Fitzpatrick. They're my fave authors.
This group would be an inspiration about what book I'd like to read in the future. You know, gimme some clues or what and then I can throw my self to the bookstore and grab some :D
Anyway, nice to meet you all here :]
