Fool Me Once - Harlan Coben - 4 Stars

I love to read Harlan Coben mysteries. He is a great story teller, weaving a story of suspense and mystery. His book just keep me turning pages and I don't have to do any self reflection or meditating on deeper things. I just read the story.

This is my favorite of his to date. Normally I rate his 3 or 4 stars, but the ending to this one is more original. I love trying to solve the mysteries before hand, and most of the time with Coben, I can only guess a piece of the mystery but am not able to piece it all together. This book didn't fail in that regard either.

Great fast read.

So, now I had to go looking for your review, as well! I have also read this one, but I read so many and I get them mixed up in my head! I also tend to mix up some of Coben's books with Linwood Barclay's. They are very similar - have you read anything by Barclay?

Found my review. I actually didn't rate this one as high as some of the others I've read by Coben! My favourites remain The Woods (the first I read by him) and Gone for Good.

I remember the gist of this one, but also don't recall the ending. :-) I could probably reread all of his (and Barclay's) and the endings would still all be surprises, as I tend to forget so easily!

I liked The Woods, 4 Star. I didn't give the fifth star because I happened to guess the ending. I think it was the second book when I started to read Harlan Coben again. The first was The Stranger. I read Gone for Good back when I was a mid teenager. I don't remember the story well anymore. Even reading the blub on Wikipedia only sounds familiar but does not jog any memories. But I remember the cover sitting on my bookshelf for years until I moved out and gave the book to my little brother.

I have not read Barclay.

The ending to this book (view spoiler)[The main character's husband has been murdered. She sees a video of him in her living room after he has been murdered so she spends the book trying to figure this out.

Then ending is, Maya, the main character, admits to killing her husband and seeing him alive freaked her out. She knew someone was messing with her. She killed her husband, because while Maya was in Iraq, he killed Maya's sister because the sister had uncovered that the husband had killed his brother and another student while in college. Maya then confronts the husbands mother and two surviving children with all this. They decide to kill Maya in "self defense". Maya counted on this and was unarmed and was live streaming the whole conversation. They kill Maya but incriminate themselves and commit murder live. (hide spoiler)]

Update: I just changed my rating to 4 stars. The more I thought about this books, it is just a fun read. I will save my 5 stars for more in depth pieces. However, I love this story. Great mystery.
