Sarah Mensinga (sarah_mensinga) | 43 comments Well, blerg! I just tried to post my review for D. Wallace Peach's Sunwielder on Amazon and got this message:

We apologize but Amazon is not accepting reviews on this product from this account. If you would like to contact us about this decision, please email community-help@amazon.com.

I'll contact them of course, but I guess I shouldn't have made it so glowing? :( I hope this doesn't lock me out of writing reviews in the future. Any thoughts on how to proceed?

Here is the Goodreads review:

Oh no, Sarah. That's such a shame. I certainly hope that Amazon isn't blocking you from posting reviews. If you find out from Amazon that there is something I need to do, please let me know. I appreciate your efforts. And thank you for the lovely review. :-)

Sarah Mensinga (sarah_mensinga) | 43 comments You're welcome. I really did enjoy the read. You are a fabulous writer.

I hope I'm not blocked from posting on Amazon too. I just wrote them an email, and I'll let you know what happens.

Sarah, I know that one of the reasons Amazon disallows reviews is if it perceives that there is some link between the reviewer and reviewee, such as when they live at the same address or share the same IP address. Have you ever won a giveaway or received a voucher from D, or something like that?

By the way, I like the word 'blerg!' Is it okay if I use it?

message 84: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Mensinga (sarah_mensinga) | 43 comments Please do! I believe blerg is a 30 Rock-ism. :)

I don't have any connection to D to the best of my knowledge. No word from Amazon yet. I may just try to post the review again.

I tend to write my reviews in a doc file and then just copy and paste into Goodreads & Amazon. I wonder if that is making my posts seem suspicious... that I'm not actually typing them in? I also never wrote reviews on Amazon before this summer, so perhaps that's getting me red-flagged too. :/

message 85: by D. (new)

Maybe you didn't spend $ 50 on Amazon in a certain period. Amazon has some weird rules, but try setting up a book review again.

message 87: by Warren (new)

Warren Dean | 321 comments I'll ask the other mods if any of them can shed any light on the 'zon-speak of the email.

message 88: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Mensinga (sarah_mensinga) | 43 comments Thanks, Stjepan. I have spent more than 50$ recently on Amazon, so I don't think that's it. Hmm. Well I'm so very sorry D. I tried to see if I could post the review again, and now I'm just immediately given that message about not being allowed to review your book. I can still review other things. I just wrote another very polite email to them, but there's still been no reply to my first message.

One of my reviews in my last group also took a week to post, so I worry that I've somehow accidentally angered the Amazon gods. :( So very frustrating to be a teeny fish in their big corporate sea.

Warren Dean | 321 comments Sarah wrote: "Thanks, Stjepan. I have spent more than 50$ recently on Amazon, so I don't think that's it."

I have had a look at the Zon's review guidelines for possible clues.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/custom...

One of the rules is that "customers in the same household may not post multiple reviews of the same product." Your review mentions a friend having recommended the book to you. Has someone who lives in the same household as you, or who shares the same computer or same IP address, already reviewed D's book by any chance?

I once had the experience of a friend of my wife's, whose computer shared the same IP address of my wife's computer at work, being unable to review one of my books because the friend was perceived by the zon to be connected to me.

Don't worry too much about this, though. I have some ideas on how to compensate D for the lost review. I am just waiting for a few more of the mods to come back to me.

message 90: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Mensinga (sarah_mensinga) | 43 comments Augh, I think I just figured it out. So the friend I was referring to is Alexis Lantgen, who is also a review group member and did previously review D's book. We are not part of the same household, but our husbands used to work together. Before my husband and I had Prime delivery, if we needed something quickly, we'd order it through Alexis's Prime account and pay for it with our credit card. Our home address is probably still saved as an alternate address in her account. I'm so sorry, D! :(

Ah. That probably explains it. Thanks so much for looking into it, Sarah. Live and learn. Thanks, Warren, for seeing how I can make up for the lost review. I'm not going to have a fit about it if something can't be worked out. :-)

message 93: by D. (new)

D. Peach | 192 comments Warren, the review of Sunwielder written by Alexis, Sarah's friend from Group 225, was removed too. :-( Bummer. And the worst of it is they both liked the book. Just an FYI.

message 94: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Mensinga (sarah_mensinga) | 43 comments Again, I'm so very, very sorry D. Those purchases from Alexis's account were made years ago. I should have thought through that connection. I feel especially badly because I know how tough it is to gather reviews, and you have a lovely book.

Alexis Lantgen (alexislantgen) | 68 comments Hi Dee,
I'm so sorry, I had no idea this would be an issue! I'll try to re-post my original review and see if the gods of Zon relent:(

message 98: by D. (new)

D. Peach | 192 comments Thanks, Alexis. No worries Sometimes the big Zon goes overboard. Thanks for trying. :-)

Warren Dean | 321 comments Sarah wrote: "Again, I'm so very, very sorry D. Those purchases from Alexis's account were made years ago. I should have thought through that connection."

I agree with D., Sarah. I don't think you can blame yourself for overlooking such an innocuous connection that took place years ago. Particularly given that there is nothing inherently wrong with individuals, who happen to be friends (or relatives), posting genuine reviews of the same product. This is a good example of the zon throwing the baby out with the bathwater.
