This is wonderful, I'm not going to pick too many for now since lately I'm a snail but I can't resist these:

Halloween Man by Douglas Clegg
The Pet by Charles L. Grant
and Night in the Lonesome October by Richard Laymon -

since I haven't read this one yet and I've missed reading my beloved Laymon!

Halloween Man by Douglas Clegg The Pet by Charles L. Grant Night in the Lonesome October by Richard Laymon

I'm sure I will, after all these reads are hand picked by you, so I'm really excited :) I have two out of the three, have to pick up the Laymon from mom's house tomorrow and I'm set.

New Year indeed yes, my company celebrates it since the owners are Jewish.

Love the rain, very cozy, I have the windows open and it's very resfreshing, nice to wear long sleeves for a change, so cozy.

I loved the Ash series.

After reading a couple of Herbert's Rat books and The Dark, Haunted had me constantly checking to see if it really was the same author.

Funny you ask, a few years ago Walken was in some song, he did a cameo and danced on escalators. My dad loved it. He made sure that I watched it! I haven't seen my dad dance but his martial arts moves are close enough :P

Robert Mingee (robertmingee) | 776 comments Even though I've been here a little while now, I'm new to challenges. I'm gathering from what has been said that each person sets a goal for themselves to read some number of books from the listed books (and any others they want to add, from what Jon said?) Is there any more to it than that? Any risks to life and limb? Punishment for failing, other than the eternal scorn of listmates? :-)

You got it, Robert. And you can pick any books you want. My list is simply a suggestion. That's all there is to it.
If you follow this link, you'll see where you can set the number of books you chose for the challenge.

Robert Mingee (robertmingee) | 776 comments I went conservative on my entry, and considering I'm doing both audio and regular books, it looks like I'm going to hit my goal in a few days. I assume it's not cheating to raise the bar for myself? :-)

I haven't had this much reading time the past few years, and my proofreading calendar is clear this month (so far), so it's nice to immerse myself in seasonal reading this year.

Of course it's not cheating! The more the scarier. :)

message 96: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia (cynthiab) I enjoyed this challenge. I was a bit conservative with my number because it's still so hot where I live and horror is so much better in cooler weather for some reason. I may up my goal later.

I chose authors first, then selected books. 3 were re-reads I had been looking for an excuse to dive into again.

Full Dark, No Stars by Stephen King Coraline by Neil Gaiman The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman Mirror by Graham Masterton The Dark by James Herbert The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson The Wolf Gift (The Wolf Gift Chronicles, #1) by Anne Rice The Wolves of Midwinter (The Wolf Gift Chronicles, #2) by Anne Rice Something Wicked This Way Comes (Green Town, #2) by Ray Bradbury Dark Harvest by Norman Partridge

I finished The Shining Girls by Lauren Beukes 2 days before the challenge started, or I would add it. I enjoyed it quite a bit.
