No, I don't think that's it. The cover was almost cartoonish. Sorry its not much to go on with. Thank you for your help.
Here are a few list you can checkout. These are lists of YA books published in 2003, 2004, and 2005https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/5...

do you remember anything about the protagonist? Boy, girl, animal, witch, owl, etc?
Thank you all for your help. I do not think it's in the lists or the individual books suggested. It's hard because, unfortunately, I do not remember anything about the story itself, and the books have multiple editions so it's possible I may have missed something.
I will keep looking and have started looking into books published further back and also for an even younger audience. Though I doubt that is the case because other books that I have seen in the 2003-2005 years have either been read by me or I seem to remember them from the time I read this 'unknown' book.
It's been a month since the original post so so updated it or 'bumped' it to bring it back on top :-)
This is a stretch, but this edition of Grendel was republished in 2004 and the cover sort of fits your description:

You don't have to give up; we can keep threads open indefinitely and you can bump them every few months.
However if you are determined to give up, we can send the thread over to Abandoned.

This is a book I read about a decade ago (around 2003-2005) that was pretty popular when it was released. I don't remember much about the book but it might have something to do with magic. What has stuck in my mind is its unique cover.
As stated there was a lot of blue/purple/ yellow on the cover (gave a halloween, night time, witchy feeling to it). What i remember is that when you first look at the book you see a sercret/trap door opened (which has yellow light coming out) on the right side of the cover and maybe an owl in the darkness on the left but if you looked at the cover long enough you realize that the blue/purple dark area on the left also looked like the face (and maybe body?) of a person (maybe a witch?).
I'm assuming that the book had something to do with going through that secret/trap door and having an adventure time, maybe something magical and/or not of this world. It would be awesome if someone could find out what this book is. Oh, and it was a fiction novel for young adults or middle grade.
EDIT - The book does not have any romance in it as far as I can remember and the cover is almost cartoonish/animated ( so no human models)
EDIT - It is not Skellig, Magyk, The Purple Emperor, Flora Segunda, The Worst Witch, A Witch in Winter, Pure Dead Magic or Grendel
