Reporter/Journalist with PTSD moves back to small hometown after being away for years Set around 2006, written around the same time

Okay, so I'm trying to find this book. Its about this woman who is either a journalist or reporter and moved out of her small hometown like right after high school. She was in war-torn Iraq or Iran for quite awhile. She was in a relationship with her cameraman/photographer. He ends up being killed in a car bombing or something, which she was also injured in and she suffers from PTSD because of what happened. She moves back to her hometown to stay with her mom for awhile, I'm not sure. She ends up getting reacquainted with an old boyfriend from like high school or something. They find out they still have feelings for each other.

I read this book around 2006-07. It had been published recently. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.
