1st book and sci fi by this author; some alien spacecraft buried underneath the ice (in the arctic?)

Sci Fi I read about 2-3 years ago. This was his (this author's) first novel and all I can recall is it was about something or some alien spacecraft buried underneath the ice (in the arctic?).

Perhaps I wasn't clear. The only thing I'm certain of is this was the authors debut novel. Best I can recall it was published 3-5 years ago. I believe he came out with another novel following this but since I can't remember his name (definitely male), I can't find that either.
