Why might a request to add a book be ignored?

New requests are coming in constantly and it's easy for a post to be missed as it gets pushed down the page. If it's been a while you can bump your post back up simply by making a new response.

but you know anyone can add a book to GR
Thanks, Jan-Maat. I hadn't realised that. I wonder why this thread exists? I also wonder if anyone can delete or merge books? If so, that might explain a handful of my missing reviews.
Only a small number of people can delete books from the database outright. If you see that a book has disappeared you can ask about it in this group, and we can try to see why it might not be in the database.
Emily wrote: "Only a small number of people can delete books from the database outright..."Good to know. Most of the few I've lost have been short stories that were listed individually, but also published in collections, and the standalone was deleted or merged. I have backups, but the discussion in the comments are gone forever.

I'm pretty sure I posted to meet the criteria, and I've requested a couple of other books to be added in the past, without problem. I certainly don't expect an instant response, but this seems to have been forgotten, and I don't know why.
Thanks.
