The question to think about is:

Lia's life, and the world she lives in, are steeped in tradition. Lia flees her obligations in order to escape the constricting nature of these traditions.

Is tradition important? Or is it also important for each generation to create its own traditions? Explain with reference to the book.

Feel free to extend the discussion beyond the questions and simply talk about the book as well :D

I feel like, there was an element of selfishness when Lia ran away from her princessly duty, however, I would have made the same decision. It was clear that her marrying the prince was a move to prevent an uprising but she still chose to put her own happiness first.

Sometimes tradition is important but i guess happiness comes first.

I agree with you. Happiness is an important factor, as is intent/purpose. Is the tradition actually serving a purpose, or aiding society in any way? Is it benefiting the people involved? And if not, should it be revised or gotten rid of?

Obviously Lia didn't believe the tradition benefited her in any way, leading to her choice to run away and find her own happiness elsewhere.

I think it was interesting when she finally realised the ramifications of her decision.

I find this topic of tradition interesting, I mean Scotland just voted against breaking away from tradition and I think I would feel the same if Australia was to break away from the Monarchy. However, In many instances tradition is detrimental to the individual, which is illustrated in arranged marriage or love marriage.

I think Lia made the right decision, and I can't wait so see how she and the prince overcome the obstacles in the next book!!

I mean, it was a well done cliff hanger but... I CANT WAIT THAT LONG! You will all have to go on with out me. I'm going to take a nap until the next book comes out! Hehehehe
