Read this book when I was a teen (roughly around 2009 I reckon) but never finished it so looking to try and find some more information on it. It was told from the split perspectives of a young trainee Tibetan monk and the daughter of the leader of a research team looking for anthropological/archaeological evidence for a missing link, "neanderthal" like creature. NOT SURE IF SPOILER - but they instead find a feral child who is the descendant of the missing link and the monk, daughter and child are brought together. The cover of the book was black with a blue X-Ray of a neanderthal skull wrapping around from the back to the front
