If that gets done, do we have all of our tasks done by the deadline?

thankssssss

I will be reading All Systems Red for #8. It'll be done in time, it's a novella. I'll post a confirmation when finished.

Probably next week, when they post the tasks. Meanwhile, we can do safe zone tasks. Let's start with Group 1. Any preferences on who wants which letter?

Book:

Qualification: "C" for ACID. BOM book and author's last name begins with "C"
Book:

Qualification: "D" for ACID. BOM book and Title AND author's first name begin with "D"

I've never heard that first names don't work before! I think it's fine. So you can do "A" and "I", then?
If everyone else wants to start on Group 2? I bet we can finish at least Groups 1 & 2!

"SPELL-IT-OUT RULES
Spell out the word(s) using the first letter in the book's title, the first letter in the author's first or last name, or the first letter of a character's first, last, or nick-name, or the first letter of the series name.
As always, if the first letter of a title starts with an indefinite or definite article ('A', 'An', 'The', etc.), you may use the first letter of the second word in the title to spell out your chosen word.
If the first letter of a title is a numerical digit, then you use the first letter of that digit for your spell out (i.e. 1984 is N; 2046 is T; 1Q84 is O)
If you are listening to an audiobook, the first letter in the narrator's first or last name also can be used.
We're also allowing for Translators names, as long as the edition you are reading is a translation version."
So you're good Kerri.

Y'ALL: QUESTION. If I read a book since round two started but didn't finish it for the challenge can I use it for the safe zone challenges?

Book:

Qualification: “C” authors last name begins with C
Rating: 5 stars
Review: I’m not sure what I can say about this book without giving anything away. It’s a really beautiful concept that is heartbreaking but also very thought provoking. Imagine that you could go back and redo moments in your life? Would you do it? Would you do it knowing that it could change very thing and everyone? Those are the ideas that emerge while reading this. Worth the read.

So far, it's pretty amazing! I'm about halfway through and should be done with it by tomorrow :)

Book:

Qualification: Title begins with D
Rating: 2 stars
Review: I mean, I didn’t hate it. But it wasn’t good either. It has weird random violence that doesn’t feel like it fits with the rest of the story. It feels like a pretty stereotypical YA adventure fantasy novel. Girl goes on adventure. Becomes a hero. There are cute boys. But in this one, the antagonist is Dorothy who has gone back to Oz and become completely insane. All of the characters are there. The flying monkeys, the lion, the tinman, the scarecrow, the wizard. Witches. I wanted this to be so much better than it was. Oh well.

Got it added, Zoe, and just finished my book, so added that, too! I'll have to do my completion post tomorrow... I'm still feeling bleh and need to get to bed.

10 tagged MPG Crime
9 that has the letters A-R-S-E-N-I-C in the title ( in any order)
8 that was published in the 1980s
7 with a detective whose initials can be found in the word poison
6 set in Scandinavia
5 that is more than 500 pages
4 from an author who was NOT born in the USA, Canada or UK
3 that is #3 in a series
2 with one or more flowers on the cover
1 that is on the Foreign Lands list

I can definitely do #3 in a series since I was going to anyway, and I think I have one for ARSENIC spell it out, and the flower one too. I’ll confirm tomorrow with selection posts and a completion post for my last one too! Good job team!

Book: The Ten Thousand Doors of January
Qualification: Author's name begins with A (Alix E. Harrow)
Rating: 4 stars
Review: This book was a beautiful, fun ride! I really enjoyed the writing style of this author; it was lovely but not overly flowery. And I adored the characters, especially January, our heroine. She had moments where I was questioning her intelligence, but she was real and brave and so much fun to follow on her journey. This is a great book to escape into and just enjoy. Definitely recommend!

#2
The Lost Art of Mixing
Qualification: has flowers on cover
#3
The Fate of the Tearling
Qualification: third in a series
#9
The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society
Qualification: contains the letters ARSENIC in the title out of order

#10 - tagged MPG Crime
The Turn of the Key by Ruth Ware
Qualification: Tagged MPG Crime ... or at least I hope it is
#6 - set in Scandinavia
Mlhy Ölandu by Johan Theorin
Qualification: Öland is the second largest island in Sweden after Gotland and Sweden, officially the Kingdom of Sweden, is one of the Nordic states on the Scandinavian Peninsula in Northern Europe ...

#10 - tagged MPG Crime
The Turn of the Key by Ruth Ware
Qualification: Tagged MPG Crime ... or at least I hope it is"
I don't think that book is gonna work because Crime isn't one of the main page genres. Is there something on the Freign Lands list that you could read? Cause I could use Murder on the Orient Express for the MPG Crime prompt, instead.

Book:

Qualification: Third in a series
Rating: 5 stars
Review: this is one of my favorite series of all time and it holds up to rereads!

I will take a look at that list.

We can read in different languages, right?"
Yeah, as long as it meets the other criteria, you can read in whatever language.
