American Historical Fiction discussion
Introductions
Hi, I'm Diana. My passion is reading and writing American historical fiction novels. Nothing like living in the 19th century through books.
Hi everyone,My name's Melissa. I love historical fiction, especially if it's about the Revolutionary War, the Holocaust, or World War II. I blame American Girl for getting me into historical fiction, and their Felicity character for my love of historical fiction about the Revolutionary War.
Hi everyone! I've just completed an edit review for the updated edition of my first novel, The Composer's Legacy. I'm looking for someone interested in historical fiction/mystery/classical music to proofread it for me. The book has a new cover and I'm working on 3 new pieces to go with the book. If you're interested, please contact me, either here or at www.LibrettiPress.com.
Hello everyone! This is my first Goodreads group and I'm excited to join. I read rather promiscuously among genres, but historical fiction is my first and lasting love. I'm not married to any era, though I'd say I'm least drawn to WWI and WWII. But maybe I just haven't met the right book yet. I'm an author and infection prevention nurse and live in Las Vegas.
Hello! I'm Deborah. I like fantasy, mystery, and more, especially if in a historical location. One of my favorite series recently and one I saw the author posted was reviewed favorably by the Historical Novel Society is the BLACK CITY SAINT series, an urban fantasy series by Richard A. Knaak The novels take place in Prohibition Chicago and feature Nick Medea, who was once St. George (so some other historical aspects). There are two books so far.
Welcome, Deborah! BLACK CITY SAINT sounds very interesting. Thanks for the recommend. I also recently finished a prohibition-era novel: THE WICKED CITY by Beatriz Williams. It was pretty good.
Hello everyone. I'm Tessa Floreano, a writer, reader, and editor, and am glad to have found this group. How wonderful that you've been going strong since 2009. I'm impressed! I write mainly historical stories about Italians in the Pacific Northwest and Europe. I read a variety of stories, both contemporary and historical, with a genre focus on historical (surprise!), mystery, and fantasy. I edit for work and pleasure--the former is mostly technical and marketing communications and the latter is a member of a dedicated critique group. Looking forward to hearing what others are reading and saying about their current reads. Speaking of which, I'm rereading A Discovery of Witches for the umpteenth time in anticipation of the upcoming AllSoulsCon in New Orleans and the now-in-production TV series!

Amanda wrote: "Welcome, Tessa. They're making a TV series based on A DISCOVERY OF WITCHES? Eek! I loved that book." Yes they are, Amanda. Follow Deborah's updates on her website or Twitter. They are scouting locations and filming now.
Jenny wrote: "Welcome to the group, Tessa!" Thank you, Jenny. I met you in Denver and Portland HNS cons, though briefly. Thanks for setting up this group.

I'm glad to have found this group. I'm a Gulf Coast reader and writer and historical fiction is my comfort zone. My favorite time period is post-Civil through pre-World War I. I read a lot of historic middle grade and young adult books and there are some amazing coming-of-age tales set in America. Some of my favorite historical authors are Laurie Halse Anderson, Avi, Richard Peck, and classics like Laura Ingalls Wilder. I have a historical bookshelf on my page with many of my reads. My first novel, Fortitude, is set in 1898 with the back-drop of the Spanish-American War (not an often discussed period in literature.) And I'm currently working on a family saga series set during 1904-1912.
Hi, everyone! I'm happy to have found this group as I have recently published an American history novel set in 1818. I've always enjoyed reading historical fiction, particularly American history from the colonial period through the civil war. Writing historical fiction is a lengthier process, I've learned, because of the tremendous amount of research and fact-checking. Still, I love it!I'll tell you about my new book, A Specter of Truth, under a more appropriate thread in the discussion. Glad to meet all of you!
Hi, my name is Kathy. I am so excited to find a group of fellow American historical fiction lovers. I am looking forward to reading your thoughts on recent and past releases!
Hello;I'm Deborah Camp and I write both contemporary and historical romances (westerns). My latest is "Lonestar's Lady" available on Amazon. The one before that, "Solitary Horseman," won the Rone Award for Best Romance (western era) from InD'tale magazine. I've had more than 50 novels published, both independently and by major traditional publishers.
I'm Louise Titchener. I write historical mysteries set in America in the 1880's, but I love historical mysteries set in most periods. My protagonist, Oliver Redcastle, is an ex Union sharpshooter and ex Pinkerton operative. Writing about Oliver's adventures has really been an education for me as I've learned so much about America in the post Civil War period.
Hello I'm a creative writing Adjunct Professor and published writer. I'm writing (and revising) my historical mystery with a strong female sleuth set in 1899. If anyone wants to exchange reads, let me know!

I'm a traditionally published author, but I'm now going out on my own with this Kindle ebook. I would be glad to exchange reads. Louise
The billboard folder would probably be a better place to advertise for reviewers. You are welcome to start your own threads there.
Hi, I'm Kathy. I am a writer and reader of all things historical. I especially love to read historical fiction during the revolutionary war time period.
Hi, I'm Mary. a lifelong reader of historical fiction, and recently, also an author thereof. I love Revolutionary War fiction, and since I live next door to a Civil War battlefield in Georgia, I also have been exposed to fiction set in that time period. I'm glad to be here, and look forward to discussions on these topics.
I'm pleased to announce that my historical mystery, Trouble in Tampa, is a finalist for the Florida Writers Association Royal Palm Award for best historical mystery of 2018. My protagonist, Oliver Redcastle is a former Union Army sharpshooter and Pinkerton investigator. All four of my Redcastle mysteries deal with the aftermath of the American Civil War. We think we are a divided country now. That was an even greater time of civil discord, festering hatreds, etc. Lots of plot material.

I like reading and writing about that era as does my friend Steven Malone. The sequel to my present novel Henry’s Pride begins right about that time. Welcome!
