@Donna: Goodreads list 920 books with Pandemic in the title, even with the data-range given - Next from Crichton is listed as published 2006, OP Title says 2008-2011 (probably means read in that time?) -
there are quite a lot of books, first glance at the blurbs does not help.
Do you have an author in mind?
Donna shelved a "Pandemic" by A. G. Riddle, but it was published in 2017 so it can't be the one the OP is looking for.
Eliminated a possible. Brain Wave by Poul Anderson. Animal intelligence gets increased in the book, but no nodding dog or digging anything up.
Bargle wroteAs this counts as a bump (new information), I will bump this next in May, so as to bump this together with the other 2 threads I am bumping (my own and one other).
Stay healthy & indoors and keep calm, we don't need Bioterror when a natural disease threatens us ...
Sad to see this go, but unless I stumble over it by chance, I guess this will not be solved and can be moved to "Abandoned". I've saved the Url, and will make an entry if I find a book which fits the description.
Yeah, I've been keeping an eye on this one as well. Still, you never know when you may stumble across something.Nodding dog thread.
Another possible eliminated, Starswarm by Jerry Pournelle. There are dogs with increased intelligence, but again no nodding or digging anything up.
Have you looked at any Scott Sigler books? There might be something in there like that? It's been a long time since I read anything of his due to my dislike of his using a disability as a joke, but he's in the Michael Crichton genre.
As written before, I have saved the URL and if I read something that fits, I will post it. But given that the OP has abandoned this thread, I am ok with not bumping it anymore and moving to "abandoned / now we will never know". But then again it is not much work for me (bumping this, 1 other thread and my own one).
Bargle? What is your take?

Nodding dog thread.
