SOLVED. Horror Anthology from the 70s/80s [s]

I used to have a horror anthology, I believe it was the best of a series. I owned it by '88 but it could have been as early as the 70s. Two known authors were Stephen King and Tanith Lee.

One story was about a boy who was the progeny of her mom having an affair with a boogeyman. The child has nightmares of things hiding in the closet and under his bed. He has terrible nightmares and headaches. He may have killed a puppy.

Another story a boy thinks a boogeyman comes to his room at night. The boy stays up eating instant coffee grounds to stay awake and try to catch it.

The hard back book was given to me without a dustcover so I do not know what that looked like. The book itself was red with a black spine.
