Question regarding author profile merging

I have a question regarding author’s profile merging.

Indeed, I saw some authors that had two or multiple Goodreads’ profiles that needed to be merge. I fell upon the thread that stated that Goodreads’ librarians were no longer merging author profiles and that people needed to contact the Goodreads’ staff who were now in charge of it; which is what I did every time I found multiple profiles of authors.
However, every time the Goodreads’ staff answered my mail saying that they indeed merged the profiles into one but they also added: “Librarians normally fix issues like this, so in the future feel free to post in the Librarians Group, where our volunteer librarians will be happy to help you out with any requests like this. To do so, just join the group by clicking on "Join Group" under the group profile photo. From there, you can simply post a request by starting a new discussion thread here. “

So now, I’m confused about what I should do when I see authors that need to be merge.

I can understand you are confused. However, you are doing the right thing*. Rivka (Librarian Moderator and staff member) has clearly stated that requests should be sent into Support from now (then) on.

N.B. Librarians have never been able to merge Goodreads Author profiles. It was always done by staff in the merge thread :)

*if one (or more) of the profiles is a Goodreads Author profile.

When one of the author profiles that need merging is a "Goodreads Author" = a profile claimed by the author (it says so on the top right of the author page, like this one https://www.goodreads.com/author/show... and this one https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...) only GR Staff can merge them.

For all author profiles that are not claimed by the author, GR Librarians can merge them. Here are two examples of regular author profiles: https://www.goodreads.com/author/show... and https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...
