Cloudtet | 3 comments Hey! I have very little experience writing introductions, so I don't really know what to say. I certainly wouldn't mind tips in that regard. Let's see... I suppose I could mention that I've enjoyed books in silence all my life. I've never shared that part of my life with anyone. I have never been in a situation which has required that of me, nor have I felt the need to force it on anyone.

Yesterday, I stumbled upon a discussion in this group when I was searching Google for a database on books. It ended up sparking an urge in me to join the community. It looked so fun! I had crossed paths with Goodreads a few times prior, when searching for quotes, but I had never taken a closer look. Shortly after registration I found myself being so excited I could barely contain myself. This website was so great! And I am still very excited about all of this.

I have explored the sections of the site now, so I have a little better grasp of things, but it's still all a bit overwhelming. I knew I wanted to participate in discussions, and it seemed that groups were the only place to do that, so I had to get in to one, but there were so many! So I decided to go with the one I had seen earlier when I was searching Google, because the description fit so well! And here I am.

I am ashamed of this, but I haven't read a whole lot in my life. I have always been interested in doing it, but I have had, and still have, so many interests that it's difficult to satisfy them all all the time. So I end up feeling guilty and depressed because I wasn't able to spend as much time with some of them as I wanted.

I read a lot when I was in primary school, and I want to go back to that. So a little while a ago, I decided to try to read at least 30 minutes every day, and it has been mostly successful.

I love fantasy. And dragons. I love everything dragon. Hehehe*snort*. I really just like a good story, and I am open to a lot, but I have always been drawn to the magical, to the fairytale-esque, to the heroic, and to the improbable—great stories of great and heroic deeds.

I have read more than what my profile says, but it's so long ago that I don't remember their titles. They were mostly children's books anyway. I have also read books that I never finished for various reasons, but I intend to finish them. At any rate, I will be adding more to my bookshelf shortly, of what I own and what I want to read.

I am currently reading three books. One book that will hopefully help me study more effectively, one book about what I want to work with when I am done with my studies, and one for pleasure. In the future, I want to read J. R. R. Tolkien, Terry Pratchett, Neil Gaiman, and more George R. R. Martin among others.

I also hope to write a review for each book I read here on Goodreads, whether redundant or not (it's not like the Harry Potter books need more reviews than they currently have). That way, I will hopefully get better at analysing what makes a good book good and a bad book bad, which would come in handy in my own writing.

As for what I want to get out of this group, I mostly want a place to be social about reading. I tend to keep my opinions to myself, but I will try to be vocal here. It's something that I need to get better at. Then I can join in on discussions and hopefully broaden my vision in the literary world.

I hope I didn't do too bad and that it wasn't too painful reading through all of that if you did. Sorry.

TL;DR: I'm a silly person with silly desires who can't control my silly ramblings. I haven't read as much as I want to, and I'm trying to do something about it. I love a good story and am open to much. My favourite genre is fantasy. Also, I love dragons. Hi.

Wow Cloudtet! For someone who doesn't know how to introduce themselves, I think you did a very nice job!

So cool that a google search led you to our little home here, and that it enticed you to join Goodreads so you could be a part of our discussions here! That is very flattering.

I hope we will up to your expectations!

Cloudtet | 3 comments Aw, thank you! Both of you. I don't know if my chaotic rambling can be called an introduction, though. I'm generally a confused person. Heh.

This seems like such a nice place, so I am sure I will like it here! And I do hope I will live up to your expectations.
