From the first pages of each POV, I had a feeling I would hate this book (not just because I haven't liked a book from him before, but because the narration and prose just seemed so.... lacking)

RE: Emil and Brighton - (view spoiler)[ there is so much about their priorities that kept giving me whiplash. Nothing feels developed, so when they switch topics it feels like I'm reading a draft with more ADHD than me, not a "finished" arc. So little of this flowed and it's really disappointing cause it kept me from connecting to the protagonists at all (hide spoiler)]

X-men and HP both had phoenixes so it's not like he's very subtle- but for me it kinda read like a bad fanfic of City of Bones just using more X/HP stuff

SO MUCH SOCIAL MEDIA. That is my number one, "eww I gotta fucking GO" and he really made it a major part. Ugh. Plus I really thought this would be high fantasy so we could escape that but oh... no...

yeah... I felt like he just shoved random terms places as holders and then just kept it.

Up to ch5. I thought it was just me...the focus on social media seems repetitive and I’m not entirely sure about the world we’re in. I kind of like Silvera for trying something new (definitely not his usual stuff), but it isn’t feeling like a finished product at the moment.

Finished. Review on home page. Wanted to like this more than I did. There’s some interesting elements, but it feels like a little bit of tidying up would greatly improve it.
