Combining books with revisions?

In general, revised editions of a work should be combined with the originals. I see no reason (on the books' pages or in what you have said) why that would not apply here. And combining them will make the other version part of the series as well.

Bruce Coville originally published Russell Troy, Monster Boy, as a book called The Monster's Ring. RTMB is not just a new edition of the same book with a different title - he made other changes to the story throughout, including changing the main character's surname and rewriting multiple scenes with different word choices, etc.
Is it ok to combine The Monster's Ring and RTMB? I wasn't sure from the Librarian's Manual if they would be considered 'the same book'. At the moment RTMB is not connected to any series but it should also be added to Coville's Magic Shop series (https://www.goodreads.com/series/4220...), as the cover shows.
Grateful for your thoughts.
