1. I'm female, and I have gold coloured hair.
2. I've been in a horrible accident, and have just been through a 14-hour surgery to repair one of my legs.
3. My mother is very persuasive, and has insisted that I be moved from the hospital to a private facility. My father is dead.
4. I'm worried that a grade I got for a report recently might bring down my GPA, which could stop me getting into college, which would mean not getting away from my crazy mother!
5. I really need my best friend, but my mother hates her and barely tolerates her.

1. This cover, at first glance, looks mainly green.
2. The cover features a man and a woman. The man is looking towards the reader, with very green eyes. The woman has her arms around the man's neck, and is facing away from the reader. Both have dark hair.
3. Behind the couple you can see some rocks, and an area of water (a lake, or river?). There are also clouds, and lightning coming down towards the water.
4. The title is written in green block capitals, above the couples heads, and there is also some text above and below the title - a tag line and a quote from a review.
5. The author's name is written in white block capitals, across the bottom of the cover.

2. The background is a very pale, off-white colour.

2. Most of the cover is covered with a sort-of white leaf pattern, but you can see the black background behind it.

4. The author's name is in thinner red letters at the top of the cover, and the leaf pattern makes a space for it.
5. There is also a tagline in white letters on the lowest quarter of the cover, and the leaf pattern once again makes space for it.

5. The girl is on the right side of the cover, has dark hair, and a short dress.
6. The title is written in white block capitals, in the centre of the cover, with the author's name underneath.

1. I'm female, and I live with my mother, step-father, and my step-father's mother.
2. My mother is so beautiful that everybody notices her. I'm not, I must take after my father.
3. My biological father walked out on my mother when she was pregnant with me.
4. I want to wear lipstick and smoke cigarettes and go on dates, but my mother says I'm too young.
5. My step-father is taking us on a trip to Palm Beach now, and I can't wait. He hasn't been back from the war for long.

1. I'm female, I'm 15, and I have lots of red curly hair, my best friend calls it 'serious hair'.
2. My name is pretty dull, so sometimes I think about adding in extra letters to make it sound sexier. Even adding a 'Y' gives it more personality.
3. I just found out I'm lactose intolerant, which sucks. Peanut butter sandwiches need milk.
4. I just saw an old photograph of myself somewhere that I never expected to see it. And now I have questions.
5. I wondered who would recognise a child who had been kidnapped 12 years previously, and then I realised - the kidnapped child might recognise themselves.

1. I'm female, and I have straight dark hair and Asian cheekbones like my father.
2. My people and I all live in the New York City area.
3. Our community came from roughly this geographical area, but we're not really natives. We aren't allowed to talk about it, but we're time travellers.
4. We all have to live by twelve rules, and those who don't abide die in suspicious circumstances.
5. I only have my mom left now, both of my brothers are dead, and I don't know what happened to my father.
