How it works:
Guess Who?
Each week I will post descriptions for several different characters from popular YA books. Each description will be in the form of 5 clues, which should help you to work out who we are talking about ☺
Example:
Book #1
1. My initials are K.E.
2. I'm female.
3. My father died in a mining accident.
4. I volunteered for something to protect my little sister.
5. I'm really good with a bow and arrow.

Cover Trouble
Each week I will also post descriptions for several different book covers from popular YA books. Some descriptions will be long, some will be short, this will depend a lot on the complexity of the cover, but hopefully you'll be able to identify the right cover when you see it☺
Example:
Cover #1:
1. This cover has a black background.
2. There are two white arms/hands reaching down from the top corners.
3. The two hands are holding a red apple.
4. The title is in white, and is towards the top of the cover in the middle.
5. The author's name is also in white, and is at the bottom of the cover.

When you think you know the answer, each participant must then send me a personal message with their answers as to who they think each set of descriptions is talking about, along with the title of a book in which each character appears (for Guess Who?), or the title of the book, or link, which the description of the cover belongs to (for Cover Trouble).
Example:
For the examples above you would send me a message like this -
Answers -
Guess Who - example 1 = Katniss Everdeen from
Cover Trouble - example 2 = Twilight -
* For each correct answer, you will receive 5 points.
* All descriptions are worth the same number of points, no matter how difficult they are.
* There are no clues available for this challenge this year.
* You have 3 guesses for each description, if you guess incorrectly 3 times for 1 book, then you will be unable to guess that one again.
* The maximum score for this challenge is 200 points.
The person with the most points at the end will win this challenge (points will also go towards your overall score for the MMC 2019)
But be warned....
They won't all be that easy ☺

Important things to bear in mind when searching for books...
* All books used in this challenge are shelved as 'Young Adult' higher than 'Adult', 'Middle-Grade', or 'Childrens'.
* All books used in this challenge have at least 100 pages.
* All books used in this challenge have at least 10,000 ratings on Goodreads.
* All books used in this challenge are first in a series, or a standalone.
If the book you have found does not meet these criteria then it is not the correct book, and if you send it to me, you'll have wasted a guess ☹

Rules/Guidelines:
* Descriptions should be posted once a week, on the 1st, 8th, 15th, and 22nd. I cannot guarantee what time it will be exactly though.
* For Guess Who? Some of the descriptions are not found in the blurb of the book from which the character comes. You may need to do further research.
* For Guess Who? Not all characters are the lead character in the book in which they appear in, they will be an important character though.
*** All books from which characters have been taken, are YA, have at least 100 pages, and have a minimum of 10,000 ratings.
* Descriptions and scores will be posted on a seperate thread here -
* Answers should be sent via personal message to myself. Please include both the characters name, and the title of a book in which they appear.
* Please note that answers must be spelled correctly. Answers which are spelled incorrectly will be deemed wrong.
* Please let us know the characters name as it appears in the first book they appear in where possible. If the character changes their name in book 3, and you send me this name, I will most likely deem it incorrect.
* Once I have read your message, I will reply to you to let you know how many descriptions you have answered correctly. (Please be aware that you may not get a response right away, partly due to time zones, and partly because I will probably have a lot of messages to get through, as well as scores for other challenges ☺)
* If you answer one or more descriptions incorrectly, you do have up to 3 chances to answer correctly, simply send me your second guess, and/or third. If you answer a description wrong twice, then you will not get a fourth chance to answer that description, you will simply score 0 points for that one.
* Answers posted in the thread will be deleted, and the person who posted them disqualified.
* This is a non-reading challenge, you do not need to read anything for this challenge.
* This challenge will end at 00:01 on August 31st 2019, Pacific Time - https://greenwichmeantime.com/time-zo... Answers received after this time will not be counted, so please be sure to send in your answers before this time. Do not worry if you sent your answers in but didn't receive an answer before the end of the challenge. As long as your message is sent before this time, it will count ☺
* Winners for this challenge will be announced on August 31st, which is the day before the results for the overall MMC.

This challenge will be a solo challenge, anyone caught posting answers on any of our group threads will be disqualified.

Q - Do we just need the book or are we going for character names too?
A - For the 'Guess Who' descriptions we need a character name and the book they come from. For 'Cover Trouble' it's just the title and author name ☺
Q - For Cover Trouble, can it be any edition of the book or is it the most popular edition?
A - I haven't purposefully used any alternate editions, but some of these books do have multiple covers, and sometimes the british edition which I have is different to editions from other countries, so I can't completely rule it out x
Q - So there’s only one winner who gets all the points?
A - The person (or more than 1 person) who gets the most points wins, but everyone will take points which they've earned toward the overall MMC scores ☺
Q - How long do we have till the end of Round 1?
A - You have until the 30th, I won't close any of the rounds until the end of the challenge 😊
Q - Just double checking, can I submit my guesses even if I don't have guesses for them all?
A - Yes, that's fine. Any that you don't submit won't count against you ☺
I thought the whole challenge was solo? I'm in
Guess whose back for my favorite challenge?!! Muahahah I was waiting for this and checking for the sign up email for days now!! There are bow serious, medium and fun for this as well?? 😱 then serious, since I get my non-reading just once a year 😂🖤

I think she just posted that as a mistake. She was in a rush and goodreads was not cooperating. I could be wrong but I don't see anything in the rules about serious, medium or fun. 🤷🏻♀️

It'd be weird but cool to have it as serious, medium, fun. Like serious would be SUPER hard and medium less. But since there are no books read I'm not too sure how it would work in the normal sense. :P
I’ll give this a try. Just being honest I’m kind of trash with character names lol! I’ll try my best though!

This will be a non-reading challenge, which will run from August 1st 2019, to August 30th 2019 inclusively. Results will be announced on August 31st 2019.
This challenge will consist of two different activities, players must either correctly identify a character from a book from descriptions given (Guess Who?), or correctly identify a specific cover, based on the description given (Cover Trouble)☺
* All points earned in this challenge will go towards your total points for the 2019 MMC.
* You may also choose to take part in this challenge, without taking part in any of the other challenges happening this August at YA Buddy Readers' Corner ♥
