I don't like to HAVE to watch a show on T.V., so I really watch them on DVD only. I could see if the library has it.

It IS on the back. I only looked at the front. It's also on the "spine" of my CD box for the audio.*smacks head*

I'm at The End Of The Game, and Ilsa says she has "too many eyes" as well. I definitely think Perse has a connection to the Crimson King.
Anyone wonder what will happen to the container? I mean it is just in a lake!
Has anyone read the short story Memory that Duma Key was expanded from? I am interested if anyone liked it?

<-----WEIRDOI wonder about that container a LOT!
Where is Memory published? I don't remember it (LOL) and I thought I'd read everything!
I will check mine. If it was there, I read it. I must just not remember it, so need to re-read. I'm okay with a smidge more KING!!!!~
So... I just read Memory, which was a bad decision because now I really really really want to read Duma again. Oh well. It was surprisingly similar. There were a few minor changes, like Kamen using the "Maybe si, maybe no" line rather than Wireman... I'm glad that King gave that to Wireman though... it fits him better. :)
Okay, I just re-read Memory. It's so strange, like seeing a little of Duma in a dirty mirror or something. It makes me all the more amazed by his talent. Memory was interesting, and I know I would have read an entire book in that vein, but Duma is so much more...magnificent, if that isn't too much. I have to say, I detest Pam's breath in Duma. How much more would I have hated her were she already re-married? Why, oh why couldn't it have been that stupid birch instead of Illy?
I can't imagine how sad it must've been to paint your wife and your best friend having an affair. What a way to find out.
Naw, I'm not really that mean spirited. I probably would have just painted Jessica Alba coming over to visit me.
Why fight? I can just let her come see you and then invite Keira Knightley over instead. See, I'm reasonable.
Yeah, if you had Edgar's talent anyone could fill Jessica's shoes. For you! Not me. She's the ONLY girl for me;) Otherwise it's men.
:)
I like that the novel brought head injures kinda into pop culture. It is just one of those things I never think of.. and this book made me think more about it.

I find it amusing that almost all (if not all) of the emails in Duma Key have a P. S. at the end of them. I never use a P. S. in my emails, because they are basically obsolete in function, though perhaps not in style. They were used to add something at the end of written letters (or typed, in the days of type writing, I suppose) in the days before computers, when text could not be modified instantly and easily, like it can be on computers. I also cannot recall ever reading an email that contained a P. S. at the end of it. I wonder if SK uses them in reality and why he does in reality and/or his books. I'm not complaining, I just find it curious and amusing. :-)
I use p.s. in my e-mails all the time. I think because I grew up writing letters. The habit just carried over. I'm sure my children never do, or will.
I'm almost finished with this, and am completely struck by how many references to, or descriptions of Perse make me think of the Crimson King. When I first read and listened to this book, I had not read the entire DT series. Now that I have, I wonder if I will be more aware of all the references to DT in his other books. They certainly don't detract from the stories, but are used in a way that they make perfect sense on their own. I am hoping to work my way through, at least Insomnia, Salem's Lot (NOT a chore), and a few others that I know figure into DT a lot.

I'll often use a "P.S." at the bottom of an email when I have some point that I can't get to 'flow' in the main body but that isn't quite important enough to merit it's own email. I don't even have the excuse of being a letter writer first... before email, I was the world's worst correspondent!

WOW! I didn't even notice that... and it's true. I always go back into the email and add what I want to say... no PS. Unless I am specifically trying to show it is an afterthought.

I just finished! I have to say, Angie, I am a little sad you didn't like this as well as I did. We usually have pretty similar tastes, and each time I re-read this book, I just love it more.I want to write a better review, but each time I start, I don't feel able to do justice to the way the book makes/made me feel.
I felt maybe it could've been like 200 pages shorter. I wonder if I just wasn't in the mood for a long book. I forgot who but someone even said they read this book in a day! It took me like 5 days to read this and that is a long time for me.
I know when I very first got it (day it came out!) I read it that evening and the next morning. I think I could have flown through in a day, but I started late. I tend to do that with his books because I get so excited, but I almost always enjoy them more on the second read.It could have been shorter, I'm sure, but I always want more and more and more when King is writing. And mood. Mood is everything for my reading experience.
