Zoe | 22 comments The book was about a girl who was new to a town (possibly moving in with another relative)and lived in an old house. There she found a recipe/potion which she made and dabbed on her eyelids to take her to another world. In this world, she meet a group of wild people who could transform into wolves after putting on a wolf skin. The girl became part of the pack where she socialized and hunted with them. However, every time she travelled to this world, it became harder for her to return to the real world and she forgot more of her human past.

There were some illustrations in the book which were rough black/white/yellow sketches. As a child, I found it rather dark but I also found it quite magical.

I read the book around 8/9 years ago around 2005 and so the intended age group would be around 8-12 (but I'm not quite sure what year it was published). The book was rather short and was read as part of my school's reading programme.

Irini (idoyle) | 4 comments I remember this book too! I read this about 8-10 years ago in my school library, but have no memory of the title or author's name. From what I remember, the book was about a girl who found a magic recipe and made a potion. She dabbed this potion on her eyelids and was transported to another world (some kind of jungle or forest?). She discovered other people there who could turn into wolves using a wolf skin, so she became a wolf and joined the pack. At first, she was able to return to the real world very easily, but the more she went to this world, the harder it became to return and become human again.

I can't remember how it ended, but I do remember that there were pictures in black and white, or sepia, and that they seemed to be quite roughly drawn. It had quite a scary feel for a children's book, but I still loved it. Anyone else know what I'm talking about??

Tab (tabbrown) | 5084 comments This book sounds really interesting. I hope it can be found.

Do you remember the cover of the book?

Time period/location story takes place?
Part of a series?

What country is the book from? What country were you located in when you read the book?

Zoe | 22 comments I think the time period was relatively modern, maybe late 20th century. I'm pretty sure the book was a standalone and not part of a series
