MargieD2017 | 331 comments The artistry of this author's writing and the intricately woven story places this book as a 5 star read. The parallel stories of Daniel and Julian revealed through Daniel's search for understanding of the author, Julian Carax, who wrote the book 'The Shadow of the Wind' recovered from the Cemetery of Forgotten Books is a journey of wonder, mystery, shocking reveals and actions that cannot help but rivet the reader to a page turning adventure. The author doesn't feign the inclusion of horrible violence nor does he skirt the depths of romance and the needs of human flesh however the author's inclusion of these extremes of the human element doesn't linger on them for sensationalism however includes them as needed and necessary to tell a truthful and well balanced tale. It is very difficult to find a parallel novel that matches the talent shown in this novel.
