Penny Reid (reidromance) | 106 comments Debra wrote: "What inspired you to become a writer?"
Hi Debra,
I don't know that I was ever inspired, per say. More like, I've always written stories because it felt like I had to... if that makes sense. If I didn't write them down, they'd stick around and irritate me, like sand in a bathing suit or a hair in my mouth.

Penny Reid (reidromance) | 106 comments Daniela wrote: "Hi Penny,
Which book of yours would you like to see on either big or small screen?"

Hi Daniela!
This is a tough first question... I'd have to say 'Beauty and the Mustache,' but even then I'm hesitant. I don't know that I trust Hollywood to make an adaptation as weird as the books.

You co-wrote the Rugby Series with L.H. Cosway.
How does collaborating with another author work?"

It was magical! I love all things LH Cosway, so it was a bit like a dream come true.

Real life and real people. Truth is always stranger than fiction.

Penny Reid (reidromance) | 106 comments Cassie wrote: "What is your "must have" when you get in the writing mode?"

My Spotify playlists (for that particular book). They are ESSENTIAL. (sorry for shouting)

Hey Tracy,
Hopefully one day! I'm feeling somewhat traveled-out at the moment. Once I get a full month at home, I'll look to the future! Thank you for wanting me to visit again. <3

Penny Reid (reidromance) | 106 comments Ahana M Rao wrote: "Hey Penny,

Who’s your favourite protagonist of yours and of any book you’ve read of a different author’s?"

My favourite protagonist is usually the one I'm writing at any given time (so right now, Scarlet/Claire or Billy Winston).

My favorite ever is Anne Elliot from Persuasion. I fell in love with her quiet strength. She exemplifies traits that are frequently dismissed and diminished by society, but that matter most (in my opinion).

Which one do you identify with the most?"

Oh! I answered something similar.
The truth is, Cletus is based on me... sorry if I just made things weird. Again.

Hi AJ!
I have!
I have a longtime reader who I'd love to base the character on. She is so wonderful, and I feel like she'd have a zany awesome meet-cute with who ever she ultimately ends up with. I'm planning to include this character as part of my Ideal Man series. The first book is Pride and Dad Jokes
Pride and Dad Jokes (Ideal Man, #1) by Penny Reid

Of note, we have a first generation Indian-American author writing (as a part of Smartypants Romance) in the Winston Brothers world, launch 2 (spring 2020).

I CAN'T WAIT!!

Brianna (rosesandreads) | 154 comments Hi!

Just curious to if you have any specific music and artists that you listen to or if you even listen music to get your "creative juices" (lol) flowing?

I find that music really helps with whatever mood I am in and I always think better with music in the background

I don't. I write mostly for myself, and usually don't consider whether the idea/story is good or not.

I'm glad you asked this!
Billy and Claire/Scarlet's story has been written in stone since Truth or Beard. There's nothing I can do to change it, I can only tell it. <3

Book: Beard In Mind
It was a very personal book, and was therefore difficult to write.
