Penny Reid Q&A
If you could invite a fictional characther from other books to your book, who would it be and why?
Hello Penny...I just wanted to say thank you! I always feel better after reading your books. No matter what they are my comfy place that at times is more emotional, and more than once makes me curious to learn and research more but always feelgood.
I have read Beard science many times and I love that book. Well, that is an understatement. Everything about that book is pure perfection. I can't wait to read Billy's book and see what his devious mind is up to and how sharp was his teenage wit.
Btw judging by your Spotify list those two books will be an emotional rollercoaster.
Here is my question;
I heard that Cletus and Jenn's books will be cosy mystery ever feel like you will branch out into another sub-genre like paranormal, fantasy, historical...?
Hi Penny! You co-wrote the Rugby Series with L.H. Cosway.
How does collaborating with another author work?
Hi,I am visions to find out when your next submission window will be for Smartypants.
I think it is awesomely fantastic that you have given access to your world for other writers.
So thanks!
Hey Penny, Who’s your favourite protagonist of yours and of any book you’ve read of a different author’s?
Which of your characters would other people say you are most like?Which one do you identify with the most?
Hi Penny ! Will you work with LH Cosway again? Or another author?
Thank you so much for your amazing stories, for your wisdom and your sense of humor.
Love from France !
What inspired you to write about such a wonderful family as the Winston. They all are just such unique, and adorable characters - did you had any real-life inspirations for them?
hello!!is there a scene you wrote that really stuck with you, a scene that, no matter what you write, your mind and heart always come back to it? (because you loved it, you hated it, it was too close to home, anything)
Hey ❤ I just devoured the entire Knitting series this past week and I was curious if any of the hilarious things you write about has ever happened to you?
If you had to live in one of the cities and interact with the characters within your book world where would you want to live?
Cali wrote: "If you had to live in one of the cities and interact with the characters within your book world where would you want to live?"I think I would have to go with Green Valley. I mean, I basically already interact with all the characters in Green Valley in my mind, but it would be nice to eat a real piece of Jenn's banana cake :-)
Brandilyn wrote: "What’s your favorite genre to read?"I love fantasy! And obviously historical romance.
Erin wrote: "Hey ❤ I just devoured the entire Knitting series this past week and I was curious if any of the hilarious things you write about has ever happened to you?"I pull a lot of my inspiration from real life and interactions with actual humans. So, there is a chance that something you've read I've had happen to me... But I haven't entered into a marriage of convenience with a security guard... YET.
J. wrote: "If you could be any book character for a day, who would you choose and why?"Captain Ahab... I mean who wouldn't want to be a monomaniacal sea captain with a leg made of WHALE BONE?!

Sigh, there are a few scenes that are in Beard With Me that I haven't stopped thinking about since I wrote them... Other than that I tend to think about the scene of Bethany's passing in Beauty and the Mustache.
Steffi wrote: "How do you come up with the names for the characters?"Typically I just go with names I enjoy! I never really know what I'm going to get...
Adyasa wrote: "Which MC (Female) is close to your heart ? From KITC, Winsto n Brothers n Overall"
KITC: Janie
Winston Brothers: Shelly
Overall: Mona

YES! LH Cosway and I have nefarious plans to continue writing together... AND I may even be collaborating with other authors in the future ;-) Thank you for your kind words <3
Alex in Spades wrote: "What inspired you to write about such a wonderful family as the Winston. Ashley is based off of a woman I met, but she did not have 6 brothers. The other brothers all come from my mind o.0
Tania wrote: "Hi Penny, how are you?So of all of your books if you had to choose one, which is your favorite :D?"
I think the one I'm currently writing... Beard With Me!
Beatrice wrote: "Hello Ms Reid! How do you select your character names?"
I wish I had some sort of impressive system involving a dart board, however it's usually just what I feel fits the character.
Penny wrote: "Christa wrote: "Are you planning to write about each couples kids?"MAYBE.... maybe ;-)"
Aww! Such a tease! LOL!
Greetings Ms Reid ! Have you ever thought about writing an Indian Charater ?
It would be lovely to see a book with the protagonist being of Indian origin :)
Anyhoo! Love your writing ♡
Hope to read more soon!
Thank you.
Getting to some of the earlier questions!Antonella wrote: "Hello Penny...I heard that Cletus and Jenn's books will be cosy mystery ever feel like you will branch out into another sub-genre like paranormal, fantasy, historical...?
I have a science fiction / fantasy trilogy already written that I'll never publish!
And I have a YA Fantasy that I'm writing now, just for fun. I have no idea if it'll ever be published...
Latifa wrote: "If you could spend an entire month with one of your characters, who would it be and why?"Hi Latifa,
An entire month? Yikes. I don't like anyone that much. Maybe Kat or Mona? They'd be quiet and hermit like me.
Karla wrote: "If you could invite a fictional character from other books to your book, who would it be and why?"Hi Karla,
I'd invite Sherlock Holmes so he and Cletus could hang out.
